Guest guest
I took the most adorable picture of my son yesterday at a pirate party being given by and Nobles. After waiting patiently in line for the secret " pirate treasure " on which they would snack, he asked the lady pirate in a clear voice: " Is this gluten free? I don't want to get sick. That sand looks like cookies; is it? " I don't know if I'd be able to post the picture, but I wanted to share the mental image of what a well-educated five year old looks like. It's so easy to " do " for our kids that we sometimes forget how well- equiped we've taught them to be. I'd already asked them these questions, but he didn't know that. Instead, it was his instinct to find out for himself. I also like that he questions ME, the person he should be able to trust the most. My point, through all of this rambling, is to pat myself on the back. He's five, and he's already taking charge of his own diet. How cool is that?!
