Guest guest
I was diagnosed with Hashi's almost five years ago, although I believe I have had it for a much longer period of time. I am currently untreated, as I could not tolerate even a minimal amount of Armour, due to excruciating lower back/adrenal area pain. (I was on Synthroid several years ago, with no change in hypo symptoms.) My primary symptoms include horrible fatigue, slow thinking/poor memory/poor concentration, easy emotional upset, cold hands/feet, extremely dry skin (now developing some sort of rash, bumps, wierd discoloration especially on my legs), badly thinning hair, unexplainable weight gain that I cannot loose, hoarseness/deep husky voice, rapid, pounding heart rate, muscle/joint pain, fluctuating low body temps, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, malabsorption, etc. I saw a new endo this past week, as they said that " treating the thyroid and adrenals was his specialty " , and he is not against Armour. He drew labs for FT3, FT4, TSH, TSI/TPO/Tg, serum metanephrine, serum renin/aldosterone (in chilled tubes), and one I can't read. Should have those results this Monday or so. He also ordered a cortisol stim test and a Dexamethasone Suppression Test. I am to take the Dexamethasone .5 mg every six hours for the next two days, finishing Monday at 10 am, and then be in his office for the blood draw no later than noon (which is when they will also do the cortisol stim test). I tested in the past for low Vit D and low renin (not taken in a chilled tube); and borderline low in aldosterone, B-12, DHEA, and iron. I have been supplementing mainly with sea salt, D3 5000 iu's/day, and a Stress B complex. Partial Serum labs/June, 2007 T3F; 3.6; range 2.3-4.2 T4F; .73; range .61-1.12 TSH; 2.19; range .25-5.01 T3 Uptake 34; range 23-35 Rev T3; 222; range 90-350 TPO Ab; 102-High; range 0-34 Saliva; Diagnos-Techs/July, 2007 7-8A 25; elevated; range 13-24 11-12N 4; depressed; range 5-10 4-5P 3; low normal; range 3-8 11-12M 2; range 1-4 DHEA 3; borderline low; range 3-10 Estradiol; 5; range 1-4 Progesterone; 61; range 5-95 Free Testosterone; 15; range 8-20 fTSH 42; range 26-85 fT4; .25; range .17-.42 fT3; .29; range .28-1.10 I THINK the current endo is running the right tests, HOWEVER, he does not appear to like answering questions ... I am wondering if any of the supplements and/or sea salt would affect the results of the Dex Suppression or the cortisol stim testing? Also, I would like to better support my adrenals so that I can tolerate the thyroid meds; does anyone have any other suggestions? I apologize for this being so long as my first post!
