Hello rennie@... (Rennie),

Off the top of my head, I have no clue where Peach Bottom is without having

some idea what it's close to. From what I'm hearing, the Somerset, PA crash

is unrelated to what else has been going on. As far as I know the only

casualties would have been in relation to the plane and it's passengers,

depending on exactly where it went down of course and what might have been on

the ground there. Any idea what Peach Bottom is close to?

Hello rennie@... (Rennie),

In reference to your comment:

è I'm hearing that it was a hijacked plane. And no, I don't

è know where Peach Bottom is in PA...........

The local news here wasn't sure, but they said they didn't think it was

related. I have a small atlas here at my desk for looking up spellings, but

it's not big enough to list Peach Bottom.. I'm headed out to the car now to

get the big one and see what I can find out.

I looked in the big Atlas and there is no Peach Bottom listed.

Hello AKIK926,

In reference to your comment:

I'm not finding Peach Bottom either. I was also looking for Sterling, VA,

where my daughter and her husband work to see how close it is to Washington,

DC, but I'm not finding it either.

I did just hear on the news that indeed the plane that crashed in Somerset,

PA was believed to have been hijacked, but they are not sure as to where the

hijackers were trying to take it.

Sterling is West and South (sort of) of Washington about 30-40 miles (I'm not

very good guessing mileage). I know it well as it is a suburb and considered

Metro Washington, DC. It is very near Dulles airport, but out of range of

Washington and the chaos that is going on. The closer cities of Rosslyn,

Arlington and andria, Virginia or Rockville, Potomac, Bethesda, Chevy

Chase, MD would be in greater danger I would think. They are really more on

the fringe of the city.

Thanks for the info ;) My husband just told me that they said on the news

that it was suspected that the plane that crashed in Somerset was headed for

the White House or somewhere in Washington, and there's speculation that the

pilot crashed it on purpose to avoid doing damage in Washington, but of

course we may never know any of these details for sure, or at least not for

some time. This truly is a sad day.

Hello pcramer@... (Pattie),

In reference to your comment:

Thank goodness for that at least. I've heard conflicting reports that that

plane was headed for DC area or perhaps Camp . I've also heard that

plane was shot down, but who knows? I'm sure the details will come in

slowly. How scary for you to be so close.

crash other than the ppl in the plan?

----- Original Message -----

It's my understanding that that crash happened close to the Somerset airport,

which is a hop, skip, and a jump down the road from where I'm from:

stown, PA. Luckily my mother and sister are in downtown stown and

not near the Somerset airport. I don't know where north of Pittsburgh you

are referring to, but I do know where the Somerset airport is in relation to

Pittsburgh and stown, which is actually about 80 miles Southeast of

Pittsburgh.

Jan:

No casualties on the ground. It crashed at a strip mine about two miles from

Shanksville. I'm about

six to eight miles away, as the crow flies. I've heard speculation that the

plane was going to DC to

hit the White House. This, of course, is speculation. There has also been a

report from a

neighboring county of a 911 call from someone on the plane that they were

hijacked and there was a

bomb on board and there was smoke in the cockpit. Eyewitnesses are saying the

plane just went down

at a 45 degree angle, no landing gear down.

I couldn't work this morning - phone lines were clogged - but I couldn't work

anyway. I'm too upset.
