Guest guest
I didn't get anything on this. Was it for some help for caregivers. I could use some help if it would mean money wise as I spend $34,000 to $40,000 a year for people to come in and help me. ARTICLE > Yesterday I tried to send something to every one and could not. Try this > ezine@... Very good article. One is about money for caregiving. > > Jane Anne King > > >
Guest guest
LaCinda, Did you type in the e-mail address that I gave you. It should come in when you do that. Let me know. Guest guest
Jane Anne, Evidently, I am not the only one with problems with the address you gave--it just links me up with an e-mail address. It is not a link to an article--at least for me. Dolores ARTICLE > > > > Yesterday I tried to send something to every one and could not. Try this > > ezine@... Very good article. Guest guest
This is what I tried to send the other day. Hope you can get it. Let me know. Jane Anne King. HOW MUCH OF THE $257 BILLION OF FREE CAREGIVING IS FROM YOU? By Barbara Krueger, President of seniorrecource.com, LLC In some instances we find ourselves stretched to unbearable limits. Living closest to our parents puts the burden on us. According to Homelink, Inc. of Pennsylvania, the amount of " free " caregiving provided each year totals $257 billion, or 20% of the total national healthcare expenditures. Because you are the only daughter, brothers expect you to " handle " Mom. Because you are " unemployed " and only drive several car pools a day in conjunction with raising 2 children you have the most available time. Because you have always bowed most to pressures put on you by your parents, siblings have allowed you to caregive alone. The loving care of a child for a parent should not be reduced to dollars. It is in the category of the third item in the MasterCard ads - " taking care of your parent when they need help? Priceless! " . Yet, the complexities of relationships between siblings and between each child and each parent, means that caregiving to our parents is rarely ideal. There is no straight-forward formula right out of a guidebook. And the one who does the predominant amount of caregiving can be the one most subject to second guessing-ridicule from other relatives. Sometimes even the parents we try to help express irritation with how we help, the areas we think need our help, and how much or little we " interfere " in their life. Some of our readers contacted us, frustrated with siblings who fail to understand what it takes for them to provide caregiving services for a parent. They sought third-party provider costs when purchased on the open market, in an attempt to help them present a balance sheet to siblings. Cautioning that costs vary between states, and between urban, suburban and rural areas we provide the following: - Congregate or group Retirement Living (providing a room or apartment with transportation and activities available and meals available or included) runs between $1,400 and $3,500 a month. See http://www.seniorresource.com/hcf.htm for more on services.
