So I should be waiting until tomorrow to post on the dr appt since it isn't until then anyway... I'm very anxious... can't wait for 9:30 to get here bc that's the appt time. I want to see how I've done in my "no weight gain" project. I feel like I probably lost weight from being so sick all of the time, but then I've been starving all the time since that's been gone... so I'm afraid I will have gained alot. I'm very anxious to get to hear the h/b. and I talked about it tonight, she's already excited. She said "So I'll go to sleep then we can go hear the baby in your tummy?" It was so cute. Oh... and then she asked if she'll have to go to the dr when she has a baby in her tummy to listen to it... Yep, she's definitely my daughter. Three and already thinking about wanting children. I remember spending time at my grandma's and every summer my cousin would come and have a new idea of what she wanted to be when she got older. I always wanted to be the same thing, a mommy... I wanted to have my own and adopt some. She's her mommy's girl. I thought it was too cute that she was asking about herself having a baby. LOL Anyway... I really just wanted to share my little exchange w/ . I still have lots to do before I can go to bed tonight, so I should go. I'll post tomorrow after the appt, but I'm not sure what time bc and I have dentist appts also. I have dr appt next Friday (8wks) and she is going to try and hear the h/b, but I think it might be a little early since everything I've read says you probably won't hear it unitl at least 9-10 wks. But she said that if we can't hear the h/b then she is going to send me for another u/s...my question is, I should be able to see a h/b by 8wks on u/s, right? Gosh, nervous doesn't even seem to describe how I feel about this right now. I wish I could live at the dr office! Good luck at the dr today! I'm sure everything is going to be just fine. Guest guest Posted May 8, 2001 Report Share Posted May 8, 2001 AmyR - You should definitely be able to see the h/b on U/S, and with some U/S machines, you should be able to hear it as well. We first heard it at 6.3w. The doctor just zoomed in on the flickering heart and transformed it to sound. We first heard the h/b with a Doppler at 9w4d, but even then it took a while for the doc to find it. He gave us a 50/50 chance of hearing it then. Guest guest Posted May 8, 2001 Report Share Posted May 8, 2001 Amy, We were able to see AND hear our baby's heartbeat at our 6 1/2 week u/s. I also heard the heartbeat on Doppler at 8 1/2 weeks. I know others who weren't able to hear anything until 9-10 weeks, so it must have something to do with the u/s equipment.
