Guest guest
Micki, Congrats for you and your mom. I hope all goes well but the important thing to remember is patience, patience, patience. When or if a person goes through a herx is very individual, it can happen almost right away, after a few days, weeks or months or, best of all, never. Just tell your mom to rest as much as possible when she feels bad, try to watch her diet and drink tons of water to help flush out the toxins. The faster you get the toxins out, generally the less discomfort. I'm no expert on the clindamycin but I gather most people take it orally if they can't get the IV's. I've heard getting it IM is rather painful, which may have something to do with why they get it orally instead. Best of luck. a Peden PRYAH@... wrote: > > From: PRYAH@... > > Hi everyone! > Well my mom is finally on her way! Guest guest
Micki, With some luck she may not get a herx. I never did. Someone on this list mentioned that a herx will be more severe symptoms of the disease, whereas side effects of the drug will be new and different. That seems to fit my experience. Others will comment on what a herx is like, I am sure. a C. rheumatic my mom > From: PRYAH@... > > Hi everyone! > Well my mom is finally on her way! I've heard getting it IM is rather painful, I get clindamycin injections, and if it is administered slowly - like 30 to 40 seconds - there is no pain at all (unless you count the needle prick, which is never fun under any circumstances!). I get the shots in my hips, which is much easier than the arm (larger muscle handles the stuff better). If someone is experiencing pain with injections, I suggest they ask the nurse/person doing the injecting to slow down, and maybe change the location of shot from arm to butt..... This is my experience, anyway.......... >which may have something to do with why they get it orally instead. >Best of luck. >a Peden > >PRYAH@... wrote: >> >> From: PRYAH@... >> >> Hi everyone! >> Well my mom is finally on her way! Guest guest
Hi,Donna, It has been a while since we first communicated. That is great that your Mom is getting ready for the AP. You will have to let us know how it goes. In the meantime, sunshine on your back. Briarwood wrote: > From: " Briarwood " <briarwood@...> > > Donna, > What wonderful news. Guest guest
Donna, What wonderful news. Perhaps you mom will change her mind and think about the AP now. I just wanted to let you know I had night sweats in the first six months or so after I started the AP and still get the occasional warm glow. I used to get them only at night but I find I get them rarely now and they can happen in the daytime too. They aren't from menopause either. They are RA related. The best to you and your mom. :>)) Bev > > I have spoken with many of you here about my mom's RA. She started having symptoms in late 1996. Anyway you all know the similar story. I have been reading, sharing and talking to her about the AP since 1997. She didn't seem too interested until....... Two weeks ago she had a terrible toothache where she had previously had a root canal. The dentist gave her an antiobiotic to take. I asked her while she was on it to take notice to how she felt. I talked with her last night and she said that she has more energy and is able to have a deeper, more restful sleep. I think she may have mentioned that her hands might have been a little better. She also mentioned that since she started on the antibiotic she seems to be having those night sweats. Any

Guest guest
Debby. My sincere sympathy to you and your family. The next couple of days will be hard, I know. Make sure you take care of yourself. Your mom is at peace without anymore suffering. You were a great daughter to her so you should feel good about that. The emptiness will take some time to go away. Remember we are here for you. Not just to support you for your disease but to help you to deal with your lost. Even though my mom has been gone for almost 4 years I still miss her, but the pain is less. Remember all the good times and smile and laugh because I'm sure that's what she would want. You take care and my prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. Ann CT [ ] My Mom Tonight about 12:15 AM, the hospital called and told us that Mom had gone home. My husband and I went to the hosptial and gathered her things and saw her one more time. While we were there,my husband asked how she died. The nurse reported that she had finally settled down and was sleeping. Then, he said she was singing, then she got quiet. I guess she was singing with the chorus of angels around the great Throne of God. But, oh, it hurts so to know that she won't be here anymore. Now, the arrangements must be completed. She had her arrangements all made. I want to thank each and everyone of you for your love, prayers, and concern...phone calls too. It has meant a lot to me! I am ever so grateful that I have friends like you across the world. Without your support, I know this journey would have been a lot harder. Thanks again for everything. debby
