Hi Debbie,

Glad to know the Commit Lozenges are working for your husband because

that is what I am getting ready to try. Thanks for the support!

One thing I do know about cigarettes for a fact is that they are a type of

nightshade. So, if the person has arthritis as well (and there is a

difference in arthritis pain and Fibro pain) it will keep the arthritic

flares up. I get arthritis horribly bad. Back when I met my husband (at a

bar that had dancing, believe it or not LOL), fell in love and married him.

At that time the bars in California allowed smoking. My arthritis was also

getting worse. After we married and went out dancing I couldn't last very

long because my arthritis would flare up after a couple of hours. I didn't

know there was a link at the time. I was 30 when we married and 33 or 34

when I discovered what was causing my arthritis. Turns out I'm allergic to

cigarettes in three ways. Number 1 - it makes my throat constrict and I

cough; number 2 - if I'm around it for hours, even if it's stale smoke (I

was at a doll convention in Las Vegas and my roommate and I had a non

smoking room. But, you could smell stale smoke in there anyway. On the way

to the convention room there was smoke.Las Vegas has smoking just about

everywhere but they didn't allow it in the doll rooms) I get a headache and

if I'm there too long it will absolutely turn into a migraine; Number 3 -

arthritis.

So, maybe this is why the doctor suggested this since many people who have

Fibro have also had arthritis. Too bad they don't ever mention nightshade

foods.which reminds me, I've got to get those recipes up for you guys.

Sigh..poor memory.

Hugs,

Jane

Janene,

I can attest that statement is Bull#$%^. I was a smoker for over 20 of the

29 yrs I've had FM. (I quit after having major heart surgery 4yrs ago this

Oct). My FM is neither better nor worse in the last 4yrs I've been smoke

free. I'm still trapped in my wheelchair when I'm out of bed.

Best Wishes,

Misty
