Guest guest
Hi : Can't answer your question because I have no experience with liver mets and liver surgery, but if I had to make a guess I'd say that it sounds like a pretty normal feeling after surgery. In any case, someone else here will be more helpful, I'm sure, and just want to say I'm glad to hear that the surgeon feels surgery was a success, and hoping your Dad will feel better soon. Guest guest
Hi , I think it sounds like your Dad is doing pretty well. It's a hard operation - you CANNOT expect " daily improvements " in pain. There will probably always be some pain there...now from the healing of the wound, and later on from adhesions and such which are common after any type of abdominal surgery. I don't think I have EVER been " pain free " from my original liver resection June 2001, but the pain does subside so that it is tolerable (without painkillers, etc). Well, at least I can say that this has been true for myself and MOST other liver resection pats I have talked to. So please tell him to hang in there, give this thing a bit of time, don't expect " dramatic " improvements overnight! ;o) Best Wishes, > Hi all, > > It's been a while since I last posted here, but things are resonably > well I guess. Guest guest
Thanks for replying. Could you tell me what is 'a very long time'? Is it a matter of weeks, months or even years? It's been 5 weeks since my dad's liver op. and he still looks pale, old, and complains about pains/strains. Thanks, > , > My husband, who was 33 at the time, took a very long time to " completly " recover from the same op. It is a huge surgery. Even afterwards he often had " phantom " pains in the liver area. > Peace, > Mark's Wife
Guest guest
Great answer/ modest goals, and once attained strive a bit more but don't push the time frame if you were not normally fit before your op and chemo. OOS(out of shape) means you need conditioning. But aim high enough to strive but not to high so that the goal is beyond reach. Peace and faith..faith moved the mountain, hope sustaints the faith and peace is total relaxation without pain.
