Guest guest
Well, for me, cookies have been BY FAR the hardest food for me to legalize. Yes, it was a challenge to legalize keeping my candy jar full, having two different types of ice cream in the freezer, and keeping my cupboard stocked with my favorite cereals; but nothing was more challenging than legalizing fresh baked cookies. In fact, throughout my journey, cookies have been my number one binge food. It's taken over two years, but I feel like I've finally come to a place where I can have a cookie whenever I want and know that they have no stronghold over me. I will not be enslaved to anything! Anyway, I noticed a funny thing recently. Yesterday for dessert, I chose to save room for a delicious soft-baked sugar cookie and some hot chocolate with marshmallows. Well, I went to have my cookie and it had gone stale. Yep, sure enough, I had 10 leftover stale cookies to throw away. So today I decided I would make new cookies. I made a batch of soft cookies with oats, peanut butter, chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips - they're fantastic. I ate one - spoiled my lunch - but no problem, I'll just have a late lunch when I'm hungry again. I never thought I would have to throw away stale cookies. I used to eat an entire batch in a day and be miserably stuffed and still thinking about making more cookies and then it would be the last time, and I'd be good again... What a blessing IE has been. How it has changed my mentality. There's no guilt or shame in satisfying my hunger with one of my favorite foods in the world. There's no fear in having twenty cookies sitting in the fridge. Maybe I'll enjoy another cookie after dinner tonight. I can't wait to give my husband a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a warm homemade cookie for dessert. He'll enjoy it so much - I'm excited for him to try my cookies and see what he thinks. I hope this provides some encouragement for you all. I'm not trying to boast, if I boast in anything I boast in Jesus Christ who has given me such freedom. If you feel like it is impossible to legalize your favorite foods, know that it is possible. So what's your story? Have you legalized any foods you thought would always have a stronghold over you? Let's share and provide some encouragement to those who think this journey may not be worth it.
