Same here. This is one reason I will never attempt a vaginal delivery. After two csections I am content on being once a csection always a csection. With my daughter no dilation and with my son I contracted from week 14 until he was born at 38 weeks. I took no meds, nor was I on bedrest. Cervix was as tight as a drum. Welcome to the group! Guest guest
Hi everyone! I'm so glad to have found this board. It is nice to know there are others out there that understand uterine anomalies! During an u/s when I was 19 (looking for source of pelvic pain I was experiencing...turned out to be nothing), it was discovered that I had a BU. I became pregnant for the first time at age 24, my daughter, now 17 months old, was on the left side... I was actually very lopsided. I had a lot of trouble with pre term contractions, beginning at 20 weeks and spent the remainder of my prengnancy on bedrest and meds. I delivered via C-section at 35w4d (she was breech, surprise, surprise!). The amazing part is that while I contracted every 2-10 minuts for 15+ weeks, I never had any cervical dilation. I had the unusual opportunity to look at my own uterus...eeekkk...it is very exaggerated, not just a heart shape, but rather like bunny ears, almost divided to the cervix...quite possibly maybe a didelphys, but I only have one cervix and vagina, so my ob still considers it Bicornuate. I am now pregnant again and scared to death again about the welfare of this baby and of having contractions again...bedrest won't be as easy with a toddler running around. I am currently 10w4d, and quite distressed that this baby is on the right...drats!! I really hoped my next pregnancy would have been on the left also as it is already stretched! I have a feeling I will be frequenting this board now that I've found it... I have a wealth of info about uterine anamolies and rarely anyone to share it with....I also love to hear encouraging stories about successful pregnancies...I could use all the support and positivity I can get right now! Thanks for reading if you got this far! Judi
Guest guest
Hi Judy Hope all goes well. Certainly found the right place. So many women here with great advice and knowledge which have been are a huge help. I am BU too, although waiting on further testing to rule out SU. Not ttc yet, so unfortunately don't have too much info/advice to offer - still learning so much myself!. Wishing you all the best for a happy, relaxed pregn. Did you look at it from the outside? in that case it could be UD or BU. UD can have a single cervix, too, occasionally. > > I am now pregnant again and scared to death again about the welfare > of this baby and of having contractions again...bedrest won't be as > easy with a toddler running around. Have you checked out www.sidelines.org ? It has plenty of support for someone on bedrest. When lying still means the difference between a term baby and a preemie, you might need to hire help to care for your toddler . . . whatever it takes, there's help and ideas out there for you. Guest guest
Hi Judi- I mostly just lurk on this board but I had to post to tell you we have almost the exact same story. I just found out I'm pregnant again (very early preg) and am already scared to death about this one. I discovered I was BU at my 7 week u/s with my first child(now 2). I started contracting at 20 weeks, was on bedrest for 10, delivered by c/s at 36w1d. I have an ultrasound in 2 weeks to determine which side the baby is on(hopefully right as that was where my first was). I'm still not totally clear on the concept of implantation in a BU. Can the baby implant on the " septum " of a BU or does it matter where it implants? That's my biggest fear right now. Good luck with your pregnancy and please email me if you need some moral support! ktdid2001@... New here...Introduction (preg ment) Hi everyone! I'm so glad to have found this board. Can the baby implant on the " septum " of a BU or does it matter where it implants? That's my biggest fear right now. Congratulations, ! From what is usually said, implantation on the normal myometrial septum of a BU is fine, as long as it is not near the apex (the pointy end). I saw a cool US of a BU showing the fetus in one horn and the placenta implanted on the septum of the other horn. Everything looked great!
