Guest guest
<< Sherry I agree with Robin. Do you have a problem when you make your own salads at home?? >> Laverne, Whether i have a salad here at home or no matter where i have one....i have this very problem....its becoming more and more a problem with anything i eat, namely meats and salads! A question though, why so soon after i eat (15 minutes-half hour after i eat)? I'd think food would need longer to get thru? Like i said earlier....my DH has said to me since this problem started (years ago)...it can't be what you've just eaten, it needs longer than that to get thru your system! I don't know (nor does he)....just wondering! Will certainly talk to the dr. about it when i go again! thanks to you and everyone else : ) Sherry

Guest guest
thanks for all your help , i appreciate your emails regarding this! i'm in awe over the response to this subject and i thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for their help! Sherry; who's compiling a list to take to the dr. to get to the bottom of this! i guess why it seemed to bother me more today, is that i paid to see a movie and missed quite a bit of it! Guest guest
Well, gall bladder problems can cause that - as can the absence of a gall bladder. Also - and I realize this isn't happening only after a salad bar - there are preservatives sprayed on the greens on a salad bar and in bagged salad greens - that give alot of people diahrrea. I spelled that wrong.
Guest guest
BM ? (delete now if offensive in discussion) > I have been putting off asking this very question...and some may find it > disgusting that some may ask such a question to an open forum...but after > missing half of a movie today i've got to ask! Its in regards to BMs (bowel > movements), PLEASE, i hope no one is offended by my asking...as i've never > seen anything of this nature brought up....but i do ask here in hopes that > someone might offer me some 'insight'! I don't know about anyone else here, but this is what a support group is about. I don't have an answer to your question, it has never happened to me. However, I must ask - are you on any diet pills? At least one type (I don't pemember what it is called) has a real problem with any fats, taking it along with being on Atkins can be a real problem. Anyway, I hope someone else can give you a better answer than I did. Huggy Bear Who just rode his bike 6.5 miles in 30f (-1c) temp...it felt good to get out! Guest guest
Sherry I agree with Robin. Do you have a problem when you make your own salads at home?? Maybe it's the spray. My mom and sister have the same problem when there go out to eat. Hope your feeling better. Laverne
Guest guest
Sherry: I would suggest seeing your Dr. There are so many reasons this can happen. My best " guess " and it is a guess because I'm not a medical professional, is that it could be a common item in the foods you've eaten, such as a preservative or seasoning. A. Guest guest
My sister has Crohn's disease and has episodes of stomach crampy & frequent trips to the bathroom. She finds that she has to eat a low fat diet to help her. I was telling her some of the things I eat and she said that she would not be able to get out of the bathroom if she ate them. Not saying that you have crohn's but you might want to discuss this with your doctor. You might have an irritable bowel disease. Since this is something that has been going on for a few years. She said they cause her GREAT pain. ----------------------------------- you wrote: Today after eating a delicious salad from a salad bar (lettuce, real bacon bits, mushrooms, sunflower seeds, blue cheese dressing) and having a chicken salad sandwich minus the bread...it wasn't half an hour later i was to the bathroom with terrible cramps and a very loose BM (again, PLEASE forgive me for being so graphic)....this was the first i'd eaten all day....and i had the same thing happen 5 times after the initial 'episode'...this happens OFTEN to me...after eating a cheeseburger, a steak, and anything with a little grease (and grease/butter is our friend while eating on Atkins, right?!)...why do i have thse most terrible cramping episodes so soon after eating (my DH insists its too soon after a meal for that to happen so quickly from the food i've just eaten)...going out to eat....heck even eating at all is really becoming a pain (no pun intended). I've had this problem for quite a long time (a few years), but it seems with this WOE its becoming more bothersome! __________________________________________________

Guest guest
My sis with Crohn's symptoms are WORSENED by fiber. for IBS the fiber can decrease the pressure within the colon. This of course would be of major relief if this is what is causing your symptoms. in Oregon PS: My sis IM'd the above statement to me. Guest guest
Sometimes if you are diabetic you pancreas (which is messed up anyway) doesn't make the proper enzymes for digestion. My mother has this problem. A lot of her food just goes straight through her. Comes out a chewed up version of what went in. --- switty36@... wrote: > > > << Sherry, > Are you a diabetic by chance? >> > > no i'm not, though it runs in my family...are these symptoms of diabetes? > ===== Kathy __________________________________________________
Guest guest
It sure does! You'd better get that checked out and FAST! My mother almost died from an attack like this 3 years ago. And she was always rushing to the potty too. Guest guest
I would suggest a visit to a Gastroenterologist (GI). ESPECIALLY if you ever have any blood, but even without, a visit can only confirm what's wrong or not wrong with you. Kimya
Guest guest
I have Colitis, which, I guess, is a " sister disease " to Crohn's. Mine's very mild and is under control with meds. =) I find that I feel so much better when I don't eat starchy high carb foods. I also find that a lot of raw veggies (ie, salads) can irritate it, but I love my salad, so i suffer, LOL. Get yourself to a GI.
