Guest guest
WELCOME TO ALL THE NEWBIES ON THE LIST !!!!!! Hi..I have actually just started SBD though I'd read the book several months ago. I'm on week 2 of Phase 1. I have the cookbook as well and refer to it regularly. : ) I am just looking for as much information as I can get to ensure I'm following the guidelines properly. I'm not much of a poster, more a 'reader'..so I hope you'll let me join. Kathi My name is and I started SBD May 2004. I did great for a while losing 40 pounds from May till November. I then got real comfy in phase 2 and got lazy thinking I could stray on the weekends and still be ok. Well, you know what that led to, basically i went off plan from then on. I have 4 lbs that come and go and currently i do real well for a couple of days then stray again. My biggest fear is gaining more and I am so ready to hop back on permantley and get back to my SB way of life. I look forward to checking my email each morning for encouragement to stay on track. I also look forward to helping others with my experience and also want to learn from others. Thank you and look forward to chatting with everyone here!! Thanks, 191/156/145 Hello my name is Kimgoodie I just started on the beach january 13, 2005, and I am thinking your group will be good motivation, as well as education on the South Beach Diet. I've read both books I just wanna do it right the first time. Thanks in advance Kimgoodie My membership is pending and I was asked to introduce myself to the group - I want to join because my husband has high cholesterol and we cannot always afford the medication he needs. Our doctor suggested the south beach diet. My husband seems unconcerned about his eating habbits and doesn't exercise regularly although he is quite active being a firefighter. I am worried that he might have a heart attack one day the way he over-exerts himself. he's gained 20 pounds recently and drinks way too often. We have 2 growing boys and i'm also concerned with their eating healthy. My husband is w wonderful man and i want to keep him around as long as i can. I hate to cook but love to read and reaserach - i'm hoping to gain knowledge from this group. thanks! Two doctors want me to lose weight. One suggested low-carb, the other said single servings of anything. Just lose weight. I need to lose about 40 lbs and figure it will take about 8 or 9 months. It would make me feel a lot better, I'm sure. Look forward to the mail. Jean Hi, I'm Jana from New York State. I'm 35 (36 next month), and I've been on the Beach since August, 2004. I've lost about 15 lbs, give or take, after a two week " vacation " from the Beach while we were in Germany over the holidays (gotta love the beer, sweets, and BREAD!). I was shocked to find that I had not gained anything after the trip, at least according to the scale. However, my clothes got a bit tighter, so something happened. I have 15-20 more lbs to lose, for a total of 30-35 lbs. I gained the excess weight from 3 pregnancies (my kids are 6, 3.5, and 15 months). I have a pretty easy time in phase 2, but it's phase one that is the killer, lol. I'm now on day 7 of my second time around in phase 1. I was pretty exact with phase 1 the first time, but have " slipped " a tad bit this time (a glass of wine and some sugar in my coffee one day). Jana (155/140/125-120) I have been on SB for 45 weeks, and it has become a way of life by now. I would like to get to know some others who are on SB, and learn some of your experiences, and frustrations, and overcoming temptations. Margie A My name is Cristal, and I am starting SBD on Monday. I am looking for support and tips. Thanks, Cristal I am a 63 years old retired grandmother and more 60 pounds over weight, most of the gain in the last 10 years. I have developed a mild high blood pressure problem and hate to take medicines. My doctor has promised that if I lose over 40 of the pounds I can likely quit taking the medicines. So with a good reason, I am starting my first diet, and hope to lose down to 160 pounds (that is still 15-20 pound more than the doctor's charts show). I chose to try the South Beach Diet as it seems to be fairly well balanced...not low fat, low carb, low proteim (or is it high protein). I printed out the information that was sent to me and will save it for reference.....thanks. ECT in El Paso, Texas Ellen Counts Tolbert I am Marie hailing from Pa. I am 39 and happily married to my wonderful husband of almost 20 years. I am looking for GOOD support during my *new life style change* I hope you let me join. Is their anything else that you may need to know. Please let me know! I look forward to joining the group. Thank-you and Blessings to you and yours:-) Marie My name is Felicia and I am a 24 year old mother of 2 children, married for 5 1/2 years, and a full time student seeking my masters of science in nursing. We are a Navy family and my DH is presently in Japan for a 6 month tour. I am a disabled Navy Veteran and have been out of the service for 2 years now. I have no experience with the SBD, but am very excited about getting started and hopefully losing the 15-18 lbs that I would like to shed and getting healthier in the process. I am presently 136.5 lbs and 5'3. I am mainly interested in decreasing the amount of my body fat (mostly tummy and thighs!). I couldn't do any diets where going hungry or only eating 3 times a day was required, I need more food than that! Felicia
Guest guest
Good Day ! I feel much better from the 1st post I wrote. Okay,,,my fiber cereal is out for a bit. It's amazing how these things can interfere with this plan, definatley a chemicla reaction, and training the body to burn fat, PERIOD. Anyway.........my goal is 40 pounds. My motivation is Mexico in December for Christmas, in a very small bathing suit ! I see myself thinner, not thin.but looking good. I think if the NEWBIES that have started this plan this month , like meyself, and we keep in touch, things will go great ! Looking forward to my bathing suit ! Guest guest
I think my hubby and I will be doing a Mexico trip too within the next few months. I am using that as a good motivator. -Beth Re: New Members > > > Good Day ! > > I feel much better from the 1st post I wrote. > Okay,,,my fiber cereal is out for a bit. > > It's amazing how these things can interfere with this plan, > definatley a chemicla reaction, and training the body to burn fat, > PERIOD. > > Anyway.........my goal is 40 pounds. > My motivation is Mexico in December for Christmas, in a very small > bathing suit ! > > I see myself thinner, not thin.but looking good. > I think if the NEWBIES that have started this plan this month , like > meyself, and we keep in touch, things will go great ! > > Looking forward to my bathing suit ! > > > > > > > > > > Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat.
