Guest guest
I think you made a wise choice. I know at times I tend to lurk (not too often), for reasons beyond my control sometimes, but I choose to stay so I can go back and read everything I may have missed. I can understand people that have NEVER talked EVER, but I know some people who join lists just to read everyone's input, but until they come out of their shells, they refuse to talk, and that's o.k., as some people simply just feel like they're the " only " people living with this disease. I personally think over time, that many will join in, once they get to know more about what we do, and if at that point they decide to leave, that's their decision to make. Dawn ROLL CALL FORGET IT Hey everyone forget the roll call. What started off as an idea for list management seems to knock be totally kink free. I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to kick anyone off. I'm not. Its just we have more lurkers than posters and lately I've had a rash of notices from egroups about people bouncing their email accts. When that happens I have 3 choices. Ignore it .. so the mail keeps bouncing to them and back to me .. 2) reset them .. and 3) unsub them. Well for awhile I chose #1 .. but then I was getting admin notices constantly. So I started doing # 2 .. then the same people were bouncing again a few days later so its obvious to me they aren't reading their emails ... then I started going option # 3 .. Thats what started me down this path of a roll call idea. However I can appreciate that more than a few lurkers are reading and learning and appreciating otherwise I can't understand why we have over 122 people on the list. BUT in the same hand we seem to have so many people join, lurk, never post and then leave .. I was merely trying to do some housecleaning of sorts ... However .. since Jo and now (hey great to see you post btw!) come out of the woodwork to express another side to it I will leave it as is. So for now I will just say if you find yourself unsubbed and do not know why you likely bounced over to me more than twice .. and I let you go as I cannot keep continually resetting people if they can't manage their emails, ie go to no mail, digest, etc, etc Thanks everyone. I just want to make the list work the best way for YOU as possible. Lyssa - list owner.
Guest guest
hey Sue , How the hell are ya? Missed you at the meeting on Wednesday, everybody was there. But, I didn't hear from you as to whether you wanted to go. I haven't been avoiding you but I really have been feeling lousy the past week or so. Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of ya ok? Love Don
Guest guest
Hi, I am a " lurker " , mostly because I love this list but I am preop and usually don't have anything helpful to say. When I first joined this group it was evident right away that I couldn't keep up with all the e-mails so I went " no-mail " . I can still read all the messages when I have time and don't have to worry about keeping up with the e-mail. Sue > I agree... good decision... I am guilty of always getting to my mail late... I have over 4000 e-mails to read still... I can not delete till I look at them.. I am trying to get better and try to read the newest everyday and then work on some of the older mail... I don't want to miss a thing.. yet sometimes life gets soooo wicked busy that I am to exhausted to even read my mail at night... I love this group and would never want to be deleted from it.. > *hugs > *Wickedbob akaPAM > open RNY 6/26/00 > 235/185/125 > Lahey Clinic Dr. Brams > ROLL CALL FORGET IT > > > > Hey everyone forget the roll call. Guest guest
Hey Bud, I don't know what it is, but I've been so down lately (like the last few years LOL) I can't even talk to people. Maybe it's something in the air but I just sit and cry all the time. I keep telling myself things will get better but I've been doing that for so long I really don't believe it anymore. Then, just in case a little optimism tried to shove it's way through my little haze of self-pity, I discover I'm no.5 on the list of people getting kicked off this list for not posting enough, but with this kind of crap running through my head all the time I don't post because who would want to read this? I don't think Lyssa was trying to be mean but with a basket case like me it doesn't take much. So anyway, I have finished whining and feel much better. So what's new with you? Love,Sue > hey Sue > , How the hell are ya? Missed you at the meeting on Wednesday, > everybody was there. But, I didn't hear from you as to whether you wanted to > go. Guest guest
Pam, Thanks for the encouragement but I think maybe I vented too much. Anyway, to answer your question, I called the doctor about a month ago but the list is so long now my preliminary appointment is at the end of november. But if all goes well, I'll get a date soon after that. I wish it was tomorrow. Oh well, back to lurk land for now.. Guest guest
Dear Sue, What do you think this list is for? You gotta vent girl, vent. These are the only people who know what you going through. And besides, did your phone break or something? If it's any consolation, I have been feeling blue myself. Maybe it is something in the air who the hell knows? The waiting can be frustrating but your day is coming very soon. It'll be here before you know it. I know you maybe don't want to hear that horseshit right now but it's true. As far as Lyssa goes, I really don't think she meant anything by it so don't let it get you. But if you don't post then people can't help you. What the hell is the matter with ya? LOL. You'll be ok and if you need to talk, you've got my number.
