I am new to this list, and wanted to speak up and say hi! I'm SAHM to my

Good for you! You went with bfdg even after feeling weary. You must have

known how great it would be for your little angel. The leakings are annoying,

but they will even out very soon when your body adjusts to the change. Best of

everything!

I use to be the administrative assistant to our Youth pastor, but now I work

in our Children's area. I love it!! I really respect you working with the

youth!

You will love the WW program. I have lost 70 pounds since last March. I got

to the high end of my goal weight in October and have since lost more. It is

such healthy eating and all about making wise choices.

New Here

Hi everyone I am new here to the group I have been on Weight

Watchers since October and have lost a little over 10 lbs I had lost

more but Christmas and New Years dinners took a bite out of my weight

loss. My weigh in is tonight and according to the scales at work I

have lost about 3 lbs this week but I will know more after tonight.

I started out on my weight loss journey actually in Oct. of 2000 when

I started Herbal Life. At 236 lbs and only 5'2 " I definetly needed

to do something. I had weighed only 110 lbs when my husband and I

got married in 1986 but health problems caused me to gain about 80

lbs in just a few months. From October 2000 to February of 2001 I

lost about 50 lbs but there are so many pills to take I just couldn't

do it anymore so I quit taking it and began to gain the weight back.

Although I had not gained all my weight back when I started Weight

Watchers I had gained most of it back so here I am again and I really

believe I can do it this time. I now weigh about 204 and have a long

weigh to go for that 110 lb goal that I have set for myself. I have

been visiting the weight watchers site reading the message boards for

quite a while now but haven't joined it online because of the money

situation. Anyway the other day I saw information on this site and

decided to join the group. Thank-you for making it open to anyone

and thank-you in advance for the support. And yes I am a youth

leader at an Assembly of God church in Missouri hince the name that I

picked out.

Howdy, welcome to our little family!

You'll need to have your thyroid levels checked, in addition to the TSH, so asked for Free T4 and Free T3... also BE SURE that they test your thyroid antibodies.... with the eye involvement.... I'd lean more toward Grave's Disease.... but I'm not a doc.. you still need to get the tests.

They can give you medication that will lower your thyroid levels, and after the baby is born they can go from there.

Thyroid hormones can cross the placental barrier from baby to mom, but not from mom to baby. So your concern will be for your own health, and that health being the benefit to your baby.

Take notes while you are with the doc. Ask for copies of your labs, with lab ranges. We'll be able to help you to understand what the doc is talking about and what the lab results mean...

Ask the doc what tests he regularly makes, what medications he prescribes. He may offer choices, for after the baby is born, one may be surgery, the other may involve medication to slow thyroid production, or to protect your heart.. Take notes and we'll help you to understand all of that too.

If it's suggested that surgery or RAI (radioactive iodine) be used to reduce the function of your gland... there are many of us here that have gone through one or the other or both (RAI, for me, fifteen years ago). So you will be able to ask questions of us to determine the best choice for you.

Once you've make the appointment and we have a time frame... we can get into more detail, if you wish, before the appointment, or wait until after you've seen the doc.

You're not alone with this.. there are plenty of us here that will be able to help.

Hi everyone! Well, my TSH level is at .02 (with normal for this lab being .4) I'm making an appointment with an Endocrinologist today, but am not really sure what happens next. I'm mostly concerned about the baby and how this will affect him. Anyone else out there have trouble with this while pregnant? Oh, and I think this has been going on since before I became pregnant ( I noticed it after my first child was born...) Argh...what a pain in the butt this is!

Hi,

First off, Welcome to our 'Learning Group'.

Second, Congratulations on your forthcoming second child!!!!!!!!!

Yes, during pregnancy, as well as afterwards, some people develop

temporary Thyroid problems.

Having a TSH range of 0.2 is not bad... Actually for some of us it

is quite normal. When you say the normal for the lab is 0.4 do

you by any chance have the lab work in front of you? If so, what is

the " range " that the lab uses? Normally on the paper work, it is off

to the right of the lab results.

When you see your Endo, make sure that the Doctor not only test the

TSH, that he/she also test for FREE T3 and FREE T4..., as well as

Ferritan, Folic Acid and Calcium and the other important items

necessary for your condition. These (Free T3 and Free T4) are the

Thryoid homones available in your body to use right now...The TSH

test tests whether the Pitutary gland is putting out a hormone to

tell the Thryoid to make more thyroid hormones. (TSH = Thyroid

Stimualting Hormone).

Once you get the lab work results, if you wish please feel free to

post them and we will take a gander and add our two bits of

knowledge to the pool of info that you will get from the Doctor.

Might I recommend going to the following web sites for more info

while you wait for your appointment?

www.thyroiphoenix.com

about.thyroid.com

Please realize that most of this information is for people who are

not in the process of creating a new life inside their womb,

however, the knowledge from these web sites will give you tools to

work with when you meet with the Endo.

Keep us posted....and once again Congratulations!!!!!!!!

Hi Betty, I really can't offer any help, but I'm sure

Topper () will chime in with some advice. She's

very sensitive to dosage changes. Going up a whole 60

mg at one time seems like a pretty big jump to me. I

suspect will suggest taking it slower. :o)

New Here

Hi..I am new here but not to IE...a few years ago I went to hypnosis

and after that I could only eat for hunger and pleasure..no emotional

stuff. I lost over 50 lbs..and kept it off..until now...

Now, I have been under extreme stress (children ill etc) and have

fallen into eating to hurt, punish, soothe, escape, etc, myself.

I remember being very in tune with hunger, eating whatever I really

wanted at that moment to satisfaction.

I exercise a lot..weight lifting, cardio etc.

I am glad to be here..today has been a good day so far. Night time is

challenging. It is also challenging to be kind to myself...feels

terribly selfish.

Thanks,

Welcome :)

Glad to have you here and because you are into mega study mode

(LOL!!!), there's a book list for you to look at here on the site

which could make your understanding of IE faster and easier for you

too. (check out Files on left tab at Home page).

Don't hesitate to post any and everything you want here. I think you

will be surprised at how many people have had the same reactions you

have as well as how they have come to deal with these too.

The success we measure by here is really not in weight, its in how YOU

progress with eating for YOURself. Have a happy IE journey and jump

right in with posts, it the best way I have found to 'get' it :)

Welcome Leah! Sounds like you are off to a excellent start with an Am

I Hungry workshop too. Keep up the good direction and post whatever

you want about our IE journey. We all benefit that way :)

The range for Rt3 is pretty useless except if you are over ti you KNOW

you have a real problem with it. Usually we liek to see tha RT3 with a

Free T3 to get a ratio of the two. but as you have said your FT3 is

always a ltitle low, that pretty well confirm you have ben battling this

issue for a while now! NO I do nto think the herbs and supplements wil

help. usually ince i si bad, the one thing that corr3eetcs it is to go

on T3 only for a minimum of 12 weeks . thsi lowers your T4 to WAY below

range and thus starves out RT3 as that si the prohormone for it. Wth no

T4 your body cannto make RT3. I generally start folks on the same

amountof T3 they have been taking in their natural thyroid.. i.e. 9mcg

per grain so at 4 grains plus 5mcg you would start with 40-50mcg of T3

and raise it slowly from there as the T4 leaves your sdystem over the

next 4 weeks or so you raise up to 75-80mcg T3 thne after the 6 week

mark you cna then adjust by temps and puls to optimal. Often around 12

weeks a breakthrough is felt and the T3 mneeds go WAY down if oyu have

ogne too high on it that signifies th Rt3 leaveing the receptors an dthe

T3 can finally have a free easy trip to the cells to work. It is a good

feeling.
