Guest guest
Hi , Thanks, I thought it seemed likely and I have been so wiped out, my whole body has been aching since about Thursday in ways it hasn't hurt for almost a year, I just want to sleep, and the last 3 days have had to take a nap in the middle of the day, something I don't do, and my hair is very limp and yucky...am considering adding an extra 1/2 of my Armour 15's but will see where I'm at in a few days. Guest guest
Dear Jody Hope you feel better soon. Keep us posted. I'd be interested to find out if all settles down or you have to increase you dose. Stress does terrible things to us, so I hope you can get it under control. Guest guest
I had really brittle finger nails when I was most hyper. Since I went on medication for Graves (first Tapazole, then PTU) this problem has disappeared. Eunice question One thing I've noticed is that my fingernails are more brittle now and have a striated look and feel. I intend to ask my endo next week, but is this a sign of something? Guest guest
Yes, it's a Graves symptom. Along with ridged nails, etc. There's a section of the symptom list that deals with it in the archives. Guest guest
I know when my mother had Graves, that her fingernails separated from the nail bed and fell off. Mine haven't done that, but they are definitely more brittle. I think it goes along with everything else. I've always had oily skin, but now my skin and hair are sooooo dry. I look like I've aged a good 5 years in the face. question One thing I've noticed is that my fingernails are more brittle now and have a striated look and feel. Guest guest
I really don't know the answer Sorry. Does he have swelling? Could his tumor be pressing on a nerve? Hope he feels better soon.Narice
Guest guest
Although it sounds odd to be directly related to chemo, I know of even " normal people " getting blood clots or bruises in the muscles that can be painful, and potentially can cause, or be the signs of other problems, so I would let his oncologist know about it in any case. Certainly I would make sure it gets investigated further if it gets worse. Kris > Dad came home from work yesterday with a very sore leg muscle. It > was even limping. Guest guest
Hi Tammy: This is only an opinion. I don't think waiting until Monday will hurt from a treatment perspective, and there's a good chance he may get nowhere trying to get an answer back on a Friday if the doc is busy in clinic anyway. But if he is on pins and needles and really needs to know, he won't enjoy his party anyway, so by all means go ahead and try and an answer today if that is the case. I never hesitate to call if my mom is anxious. Sometimes just knowing, whether the news is positive or negative is easier. Fear of the unknown can be worse. I will be hoping for good news for him in the meantime. Keep us posted. Laurie > Hi... > > Got a question. My husband had a CAT scan done on Wednesday to see > why his CEA counts have raised so much. Guest guest
But, , as you may have read from several of us on this list, that fasting blood sugar can be quite high. It is called the Dawn effect, thought maybe to prepare the body for the start of the day. It is puzzling and frustrating when you go to bed with a good reading of 100 or so and wake at 150. I only take mine as a matter of curiosity, but I don't give it any real concern. SS
Guest guest
, When we say fasting glucose levels, we are talking about the reading we get when we test first thing in the morning before eating breakfast. Guest guest
Hello everyone, sounds like some of us are having real problems. I am wondering what this charcot foot problem is, have not heard of it. I have neuropathy in both feet, not a fun thing to have. Was just reading to the e-mail about massage therapy for some problems, would have work for folks that are not diabetic? I have an Aunt and Uncle that have the feet problems and it is sad. Anyone who can answer some of these questions, would greatly appreciate it. Happy Memorial Day to all. and Joe
Guest guest
, Massage therapy will work as well on Diabetics as well as anyone else where contra indications are not present. It does increase blood circulation to the extremities and will assist in the flushing out of the acids and other crap which builds up in the muscles and joints. Diabetics should avoid any heat related treatments which could occur in a SPA setting such as saunas, mud wraps and the sweat baths. These could elevate blood sugar levels quite a bit. The process of massage will tend to increase insulin levels so it is important to know when any glucose related meds have been taken so as not to interfere with the normal insulin cycle. Massage could increase the rate of the ingested insulin and shorten the time cycle thus allowing the ingested sugars to arrive with no insulin to counteract them. Foot and leg massages along with arm and hand massages are very effective and also relaxing as well. If the bottom of your feet are in pain there is a good chance that the real problem is in your calf. Tight muscles and tendons in the calf and along the shin can and will cause great foot pain.
