Guest guest
Elle, I was praying for you during the day yesterday, hoping that your amnio went well. I am 35 but will be 36 when I deliver and this is a test offered to us as well. We have not made a definite decision. It sounds like things couldn't have gone better, and I am sure the results will be just great. Dana

Guest guest
Elle, I'm so glad your amnio went well and it's now behind you. I am also RH negative and have had to take Rhogam before (after some of my losses), but with this pregnancy, they aren't giving it to me until 30 weeks. I wonder why you got yours so much earlier. Have they mentioned giving it to you again later in your pregnancy? Maybe it's because I've already had Olivia and she was positive. I know I had the shot when I was pregnant with her, but I forget when in my pregnancy they gave it to me! Oh well... just rambling! {{{HUGS}}}
Guest guest
Joanne, Thank you! The Dr's were all so cautious and in such agreement that all looked just right for an amnio, that we had complete confidence that all would be okay. Although I'm not looking forward to waiting 2 weeks, I am so relieved that the amnio itself is over! I know the 2 weeks will be hard, but they cannot be harder than the initial decision to have the test. That, by far, has been the most difficult decision we've ever had to make. I really feel as though everything will be fine, so I'm trying not to worry. I have no control over the next 2 weeks, so I'm just going to try to stay busy and positive. elle 15 weeks 2 days > In a message dated 4/23/01 6:36:16 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > myeroyse@p... writes: > > << All of the Dr.'s said everything looked perfect and they > have no reason to expect any complications. >> > > Elle: > > Going by this comment alone, it should make you and your dh feel alot more at > ease. Guest guest
, Thank you so much for your prayers! The u/s was amazing! Everything was in so much detail, it was incredible! With the amnio, the gender will be known with 100% accuracy. At this point, we are saying we do not want to know. We can always change our minds, but for now, we are not going to find out. DH kind of wants to know and I do not. Yet, he has said he will go along with whatever I want to do. elle 15 weeks 2 days > Hi Elle, > I'm so happy everything went well today! Guest guest
Hi Elle. Oh, I am so glad the amnio went fine and you and baby are doing so well. I knew everything would be fine! I must say, the wait really stinks....2 weeks, yuck! My 19 wk u/s I was able to see all the organs you mentioned and the heart chambers...I don't know if it was considered a level 2 or it was a normal u/s but I was further along? Guest guest
, Thank you so much! Your positive thoughts were with me, that's for sure! I feel very fortunate...I've had absolutely no spotting, bleeding or cramping. My Dr. told me that if anything bad is going to happen, it happens in the first 24 hours. I was glued to my bed!!! I'm not excited about waiting 2 weeks for the results, but I'm just so glad the test is over and I'm past the 24 hour period, that I could jump for joy!!! How are you feeling? Do you feel the baby move all the time? I can't wait to feel the first kick! Baby was kicking a lot yesterday on the u/s and everyone kept asking me if I felt it. I just hope I know what it is when it happens! elle 15 weeks 2 days > > This will be quick, but just wanted to let you all know that I had > the > > amnio this morning...Thank God that's over!!! Guest guest
, Thank you! I am glad it's over too!!! I had RhoGam after my ep and apparently they always give it with an amnio. My Dr. said normally anyone that is RH- will have it at 28 weeks, but since I had it with the amnio, he will wait a little later than 28 weeks. I will also have to have it after delivery. elle 15 weeks 2 days > Elle, > > I'm so glad your amnio went well and it's now behind you. Guest guest
, Thank you for your thoughts and prayers! We are all doing great! Sunday night my Mom told me to go sit somewhere quiet and just listen to God. It was amazing because this blanket of peace came over me...I've never quite felt anything like that before. Ever since then, I have a peace that everything is fine and there is nothing to worry about. God knows how much this baby means to us and I know He is watching over all of us. Mark kind of wants to know the sex and I don't, so for now we are not going to find out. We can always find out at a later date if we change our minds, but once we find out, we can't go back. I've had so many people tell me that there is that moment in delivery when the Dr. says, " It's a _______! " that they wouldn't trade for anything. Plus, it's really the only time the spotlight is on DH during the pg. He gets to run out and make the announcement to everyone. You will love the 3D u/s!!! It is so fascinating everything it shows you. I was just in awe. I think seeing the 4 heart chambers was just incredible. I would love to have another as I get further along. We have a prenatal appt. this Friday and my Dr. told me he would have a copy of the u/s for us then. The u/s is very detailed and takes quite a bit longer than a normal u/s. This was my first u/s that was done on my tummy with warm gel. The tech measures every little thing. We even saw the face! I'm glad to hear your shopping excursion was success! Hope you didn't get the clothes tailored too much! LOL Remember, there's stil lots of growing to do! Again, get some rest and have sweet dreams of you little gymnast!!! Thanks again for thinking of us! You've been a great support! Hugs, elle 15 weeks 3 days > > > Hi Elle, > > > I'm so happy everything went well today! Guest guest
Elle: You have a wise mom. Isn't the peace of God amazing. That sounds like a confirmation to me that all is well. We knew the sex with our oldest. It was nice to plan, but the excitement was not there at delivery. With the second after 7 u/s's she would not let us see, so we had to be surprised, and the excitement was fenominal. Everyone roared its a GIRL!!!!!! With RJ we chose not to find out, and I am glad we did especially being our first son. Did you ever think of asking them to write the babies sex down on a piece of paper, and seal it in an envelope, and either ask them to keep it in your file, or you can hide it somewhere. I know that alot of parents do this. This way if they get real curious they can just open the envelope. Joanne Mom to: Jordan 8 6 RJ 4.5 mos. Guest guest
Elle: I wish my mom was like that. How long will you be in Mexico City? Are you there for business, or something else? I see what he means too, but you figure that the main items that a baby is in for the beginning is a layette. Which could always be nuetral. It is usually when the baby is born that people buy outfits for the babies sex. That is right the amnio is 100%, so if you get the urge you are all set. I could not imagine your friend. I have heard of that happening alot. At least she found out the second time. I know a woman who found out at delivery that it was a boy, and not a girl. She had 3 u/s's that said she was having a girl. Imagine you being surprised anyway. She was stuck with all pink items. Her family had to go out, and exchange what they could to blue. Guest guest
Joanne, Isn't it funny...Mom's always know what will make you feel better, no matter how old you get! We talked about this again last night. Mark told me he does want to know the sex, but will go along with whatever I decide. He said he thinks we should know because we are currently living in Mexico City, so our ability to return or exchange things is limited only to when we are in the States. I see his point, but I think we could work it out. Plus, most everything we buy, except big, bulky items, will be bought in the US. With the Amnio, the Dr.'s will know with 100% accuracy the sex and that report will stay in my file, so if I change my mind, we can always find out. I have a friend who is due in June. They decided to find out the sex and they were told it was a boy. They registered for the shower and bought all kinds of boy stuff. The day before the shower they had another u/s and it is definately a girl! All of their shower gifts were blue! Now, they are running around returning and exchanging like crazy. Can you imagine?!? elle 15 weeks 4 days > Elle: > > You have a wise mom. Isn't the peace of God amazing. That sounds like a > confirmation to me that all is well. > > We knew the sex with our oldest. Guest guest
Joanne, We are here due to a company transfer. It was effective Nov. 1, 1999 and we were told it was for 1-3 years. This Nov. it will be 2 years, so we could be moved anytime between now and another year. What is nice is that we are only a two hour direct flight from San , which is where we came from. So, we get back quite often. And, the company is based there, so Mark often has meetings there as well. I guess that's why I don't see the return/exchange thing as that big a deal. Of course, I won't be able to travel after mid August/first of September and we probably won't travel with the baby until Christmas time. We've already started talking about Christmas because I really don't want to travel over the holidays, especially with a baby! But, I would rather travel this year because the baby won't know what's going on. I am very adament about my children having Christmas in their own home, so after this year, the rest of the family is more than welcome to come to our home! Of course, once we are back in the States, it will make things a little easier. elle > Elle: > > I wish my mom was like that. > > How long will you be in Mexico City? Guest guest
, My bloodtype is AB-, which means I have RH negativity. Therefore, with any pg, whether it results in mc, ep or delivery, I am given a shot of RhoGam. I was also given the RhoGam after the Amnio. This is done in case the baby is RH positive. It counteracts the antibodies from the RH negativity which can cause all kinds of problems for the Mother, but also the baby, including death. If both parents are RH negative, then you do not need RhoGam because the baby will also be RH negative. elle > Elle, > I must have missed something.... what is RhoGam for? > maria

Guest guest
Hi Elle, I love your mother's advise! We really need to remember to take more time out of our day to just " be with " God. I understand your feeling about trusting him to know how important this child is to you, I feel the same way. would prefer not to know the sex, he finds u/s, etc. to be very intrusive (you have to remember, he's older so they didn't do these things when his kids were born). I'm definitely a planner and NEED to know the sex of the baby! I would go crazy having to wait 9 months to find out. I want to have everything ready when the baby arrives! I am so excited about the 3D u/s!!!!! I'm surprised you haven't had an abdominal u/s before... my doctor's office does one immediately prior to every vaginal u/s. I hate going early in the morning because the gel isn't warm yet, and is it COLD!!!! Yikes! Actually I only had the clothes shortened (i.e., hemmed). Because I'm a bit shorter 5'4 " I like my clothes to look like they fit, not like a little girl wearing someone else's clothes (if you know what I mean). We just found out we have a gas leak in our house, so I had to leave the office, which is good because it gave me a chance to catch up on a few things. Hopefully they'll be able to turn over the hot water heater before tonight. At the moment we have no gas, heat, cannot use the Viking nor the dryer. All the gas is turned off at the meter so it's safe to be in the house. maria
