Wow, what a great response & discussion re;mat leave!

I was very happy to get all of the responses I did regarding my

quesiton about Mat Leave. I was just curious, because I know the

government is involved with family care here, because they believe it

is so important. (As do I!) You can take a year off, but get paid

only 55% of your regular earnings via unemployment. But I guess that

is not too bad when you think about not getting paid at all.

It would be nice if at least one parent could stay home with their

kids at all time... ah... wouldn't it be wonderful, but as others

have mentioned, it is not always financially feasible for most

familys to do that anymore.

In our house I make the big bucks, so it is even less likely that I

could manage a full year off, but we will have to see when the time

comes!!
