, I have rosacea too...it appeared at the same time as my hyper hot

flashes. Do you use metrogel for it? I never had acne as a teen, but got it

during my 30's for the first time in my life. Mine is especially bad right

after a shower...and my water is room temp. At first I thought I was

allergic to water!

Hi -

Me! Me! Me! I'm the acne queen. It's cleared up quite a bit since I've

been on more thyroid hormone but I still have problems.

I never broke out when I was hyper either. It started several years after

RAI.

The endo blames it on the PCOS which it could be. The Glucophage I'm taking

is supposed to take care of it but it hasn't. So I'm not sure what it is.

Every time I fiddle with my thyroid hormone at all though, my skin is

affected.

Take care,

normal except a slightly low TSH (I feel a little tiny hyper, not much, just

not quite normal but pretty darn good), I have acne and it looks like,

rosaceae. My cheeks and nose get slightly flushed looking -- worse,

however, are the dozens of tiny pimples along my jawline and cheeks. I'm

thinking this MIGHT be thyroid related, or hormone related at least, since

my cheeks ITCH sometimes, and I have had light rashes off and on over the

past month that itch as well.

Dear ,

My best friend has rosacea. It is not going to go away by itself,

if that is what you have. I have posted on this subject before. The

following link will take you to the national rosacea society. Please

go there and study up to see if you might have it. My friend had it

for years and her doctor didn't diagnose it even when she repeatedly

brought it to her attention. Please see a dermatologist. This is one

you don't want to wait on as the nose will just get bigger and bigger

and redder and redder. I have another friend with it who tried herbal

treatments and boy is she sorry now!!! Her nose is so big she thinks

it hurts her in her business because, she says, she looks like she

drinks heavily.

Best wishes,

Doris,

I think mine is linked to being either hypo and/or hyper -- right now I'm a

little on the hyper side, and if I look back, I had this sort of rash like

acne when my Graves was active.

I haven't taken anything yet -- I actually don't have an official

diagnosis -- , yes, I have an appointment with a dermatologist in ten

days.

In the meantime, my regular M.D. prescribed nystatin for me because he

thinks I have a systemic yeast problem after all my antibiotics-- I have

terrible athlete's food and stomach problems. From the litte I've rread

about rocacea, I'm hoping that the diet I have to go on will help clear

things up a bit at the out set.

Believe me, I won't mess around with this. I'd rather keep my thin nose :)

B, you mentioned that you have athlete's foot too....I've got what my GP

calls athletes foot but it's not between my toes where most people get it.

It's on the bottom and sides of my feet. It peels constantly. I stupidly

took 4 months of oral Lamisil to get rid of it and it didn't touch it. (my

poor liver) The feet peeling also happened at the same time of the rosacea

and hot flashes.

Just wondering if yours is a " peeling " like mine is....I find it *very*

aggravating. (When I walk on carpet it feels like my feet are going to

velcro themselves to the floor) I've only " met " one other person that

complained of athletes foot along with all of the other oddities of thyroid

probs, so I'm not sure its related, but the timing sure is suspicious. (I've

also had IBS like problems)

Thanks,

Doris

Hi!

I have problems with my feet and hands. Little bubbles like blisters that

then dry up and peel of. My feet are very dry. I have never had much of a

problem with dry skin until last year bout with Graves Disease. Another

problem my family doctor and the Endo does not know what it is caused by.

This year the eruptions are not so great but I find they come on when I am

into my hot flash stages which come and go.

Hi Doris:

It's really odd to hear talk about feet problems, because I have the same

thing going on. My feet will bubble up with little water blisters,

although they don't hurt, then peel like crazy. I have it on my toes,

heel, sides and even arch of my feet. One foot is worse than the other,

but I understand what you're saying about walking on carpet. My socks get

holes in the heel from where they catch on the rough, dry skin. My doctor

also said it was athletes foot and put me on a cream, ketoconozole. I've

been using it for about a month. It seems to get better for a while, then

will break out all over again. I hate this because I feel self-conscious

about wearing sandals now. I see my endo this month and was going to ask

her about it too.

Hi Everyone,

Include me in on the feet blisters between the toes, around the bottom edge,

and bottom of the foot. Itch and peel it is horrible. Been using tea tree

oil to soak feet in, with summer it seems to be worse but I don't spend the

time soaking feet at night. Using tea tree oil ointment also.

Hi Bev,

If I use it everyday it helps, but then I go through a period I am too busy

and then it gets bad again. I think that if I could stick to for a while it

would work. Natural remedies sometimes take longer. My mother used clove

oil.

My best friend is also in a medical profession and yet didn't

know. Her doctor, also claiming to be a medical professional, didn't

know. So maybe just speak to her the way you wish someone would speak

to you if they knew something that might help releive your suffering.

I think looking over the web site helped me know what to say to the

friend who was using herbs. (rosacea.org)

If your endo is anything like mine, he'll ignore or downplay all the

ancillary effects of this disease. When I had itchy blotches all over my

hips and trunk, he shrugged. When I got a rare gum disease ('benign mucus

membrane pemphigus') he yawned. Heck, he even yawns at my complaints that I

feel hypo and dragged out and sleepy...if it's not in his " numbers " , it's

not his concern!

The tea tree oil always helps my feet (usually gets rid of the athlete's

foot completely for a while) but I find it too strong for acne on the face,

even diluted.

Hey guys I'm just catching up on all the posts I missed. Please check out my

,

I completely understand your reluctance. About 30 years ago I

worked in a shoe store that sold orthopedic shoes for kids as well as

regular shoes. One little kid had the flattest feet, no arches at

all. I mentioned this to the parent who took the kid to the doctor

and was told to forget about it. That parent was upset at me because

it cost her to have the feet looked at.

I am not as worried about making a mistake like that as I used to

be. Now I am more concerned with being of service. I didn't want my

friend with rosaca to keep suffering needlessly. So I took my chances

and said what I knew. I did start off with, " It's none of my business

except that I care about you and I hope you don't mind me mentioning

this but I think you have rosacea. " She said she knew it already, but

she thought it was sweet that I would try to help her out with it,

which of course was clearly my intention.

Good luck with this one.
