Guest guest
I got it twice this week too, Nan. I just told my Outlook Express to block the sender of that particular e-mail. Terry
Guest guest
Hi Terry-- I've spent a good part of last night and today cleaning up a spam virus. I have to block a whole slew of e-mail names, and a few of the blocked names seem to be bleeding through anyway. What a mess! Was this the kind of thing you were talking about? Guest guest
I received the Snow White virus yesterday also. This is running rampant right now. If you delete the email without opening the attachment, you will be okay. Then empty your mail trash as a precaution. This email cannot be traced back through the headers. Some computer experts I know have tried and cannot trace it. It might be a good idea for each of us to update our virus program and then run a virus check. The person who has it does not know that they are sending this. It will automatically send the email from the infected computer to all persons in the address book without the infected person knowing about it. I did an update yesterday even though I had done one 5 days previously and ran a virus check. I'm clean (or rather my computer is). The MailerDaemon said that it notified the sender. I don't need to know who you are. I just want others on the list to be aware.
Guest guest
We get the snow white thing like...10x a week? Between my husband and I, we get so much email it's impossible to figure out where this stuff comes from.(even if it was possible) --- Dwen Lilly wrote: > I received the Snow White virus yesterday also. > This is running rampant > right now. > > If you delete the email without opening the > attachment, you will be > okay. Guest guest
Some of the viruses that automatically send from the infected person's address book will have that person's address as the sender or by checking the headers you can tell from whom it came. Therefore, you are able to let the person know their computer is infected and they can clean it up. In the case of this particular virus, the headers are deliberately misleading (part of the virus) so you cannot know who sent it (and, of course, they don't know). That is why it is a good idea to update our virus programs and run a virus check when it is showing up in one particular group as it has in this one. Guest guest
Sharrhan, I got two spam e-mails from Hahaha@... which contained some text about a story about Snow White and the dwarves, and which contained an attachment I didn't open. I deleted the e-mails and blocked this sender. I don't know how this sender got my address, and perhaps won't ever know. Those e-mail viruses are insidious and often when someone gets infected and sends it on to others, they don't even know they have done it. Excellent reason for keeping a good virus protection program up and running and up to date at all times! Terry
