Guest guest
Amy, Sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. I have terrible nausea and in the past 2 days I couldn't even count how many times I have thrown up. Didn't think it would hit this suddenly, but my doctor prescribed phenergren too, and said it is completely safe to take while pg, however I haven't even gotten in filled yet. I am so hoping that I have picked up a stomach bug from work (one is going around) and not having m/s since I know that can last awhile. I can sympathize you there, as far as headaches it may be that you are getting dehydrated from throwing up so much, that can cause a killer headache. Try sipping some liquids or maybe just go the popsicle route. It might help. Hoping you feel better soon. Dana
Guest guest
Amy I hope you get rid of your migraine. I noticed about the 10th week I started getting headaches. My nausea hasn't gone away at all. I am still exhausted to. I feel the same way about not wanting to take anything. Pam
Guest guest
Dana, thanks for the advice. I never thought about being dehydrated... I guess it would make sense since I haven't been eating or drinking much. My headache isn't as bad this morning, but still here. I'm downing water at the moment bc my mouth seems to be so dry so maybe if it's dehydration it will pass. If it gets even a little worse I'm going to call the dr again. I suffered with a migraine for almost a week in January bc I thought it would pass then I ended up into the weekend with it.. I don't want to do that again with this one. Everytime I start throwing up w/ an empty stomach it makes me feel really guilty. I feel like I must be starving the baby but I only eat when I'm hungry and my stomach just happens to get empty in between. And it doesn't help that when I spoke w/ my dr about my weight related health concerns he said not to gain any weight for the pg so only eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner w/ not so much as a bite of anything else in between. I've tried following his orders bc it is for the health of the baby and me, but it doesn't seem very healthy when my stomach is becoming empty so much. So what am I supposed to do? Okay. I'm sorry to ramble on about this. If you decide to fill your prescription let me know how it works for you. TTYL! Amy Re: Amy Amy, Sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. Guest guest
, not sure if I'm gonna try it. I don't know if it will even help with my nausea being related to an empty stomach... I was reluctant about the tylenol, but I was definitely wishing I could take my imitrex... Your medicine sounds more like a vitamin than a medicine. LOL I read that lots of vitamin B helps minimize m/s so I bet the medicine you have would kick butt. I don't know what's in my prescription, I suppose I could look it up on the internet, but I just don't feel like it. I'm rather lazy at the moment... LOL Anyway, I definitely can't wait for the m/s to be over with... but I'm not counting on it being any time soon. The 2 more weeks suggested by my dr sounds really nice, but I had it much longer than the first trimester with so I'm expecting it to last just as long this time. I know... I waited so long to be pg I should just be happy and take the m/s and stop complaining, but it's pretty horrible... I hate feeling sick all day long. I'm greatful to be pg again and this time knowing that I'll have a baby at the end of it all, but I could really do w/ at least less of the sickness... KWIM? Guest guest
Wow, Pam... When I read "about the 10th week", I just realized that's where I am... I mean, I know where I am. I keep track of the days even, I know I start a new week every Thursday... But it just didn't dawn on me that I'm so close to the end of the 1st trimester until I read that from you... Gee... I never got so excited about getting past a certain point w/ . I was blissfully ignorant at the time of all that could go wrong. Anyway... YAY!!! I'm getting closer to the end of the first trimester!!! YAY!!!!! (Doing a little cheer now.) Guest guest
Oh, yeah... How many weeks are you now? Are you still getting the headaches, or was it only a couple of weeks? Like I said in another post, I had m/s w/ for a long time (probably seems much longer in my mind than it actually was & did begin to ease up over the last month of it). But as for being tired... Well, I never wanted to get out of bed. I was in school through most of my pg with her... So I got up, went to class, came home, and went to bed. I slept alot right up until the end, though I must be kind of strange bc I know it's supposed to let up. Maybe it had something to do w/ being anemic, I don't know. I think I was just completely drained of all of my energy. I used to go to work with (he worked for his aunt and she didn't mind) and we'd bring a sleeping bag so I could take a nap when I got tired. The customer's used to think it was so funny and you should've heard them telling their kids to be quiet so they wouldn't wake me... LOL Anyway... I just seem to be going on and on today... Guest guest
Hey Amy, I'm so sorry to hear that you're throwing up regularly (I was going to say like clockwork, but didn't think you would find it humorous). I've never heard of the medication you mentioned, perhaps R knows something about it (she works in a pharmacy). Looking at the ingredients of the PremesisRx, it is comprised of Vitamin B6, B12, Folic Acid, and Calcium - which sounds like a healthy Tums! If your medication is largely vitamins, I would think that it's safe. The description on my box read "PremesisRX tablets are indicated to provide vitamin and mineral supplementation during pregnancy and may be used in conjunction with a physician-prescribed regimen to minimize pregnancy related nausea." I have been having the nasty headaches where you can't move and extreme nausea (bile rising to throat/mouth, etc.), but I haven't thrown up. I was in bed all last week with a really nasty headache. I wish there was some magical cure that would help you to feel better. Are you planning on trying the medication? Take a nice long nap and feel better soon! maria Re: Amy Hi Amy, I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling nauseous. My doctor recently gave me some samples of nausea meds, PremesisRX, they're supposed to be very effective and not harmful to the pregnancy. Which ones do you have? Do they work? I haven't tried mine yet, I'm also afraid to take anything. maria Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
Amy I am now 14 weeks. I still get headaches. Plus the m/s. Did they do your blood count at your dr office? They did mine at my first visit. Although I think they should have done it again this last visit. I know I am not eating enough foods with iron in it because its not foods that I can eat right now. I am waiting for that pg glow to hit. I can't believe your dr told you to only eat 3 meals. From what I read you should eat small meals all day. That is also supposed to help your nausea. I would think its the total calories that matter not how many meals. I have always been bad about eating small meals. I am just not hungry that way. I get really bad intergestion.I read that small meals helps with that to. I can totally relate to how tired you are. Although that part is getting better. Guest guest
Hi Amy. How is ? I haven't got through all the posts but I sure hope she is feeling better. That is so yucky to be sick, I felt very sorry for her. My mom used to try and have me eat scrambled eggs and dry toast. Sometimes yogurt helps too?! Also, if she doesn't have the dry heaves, sometimes it is best to have an empty stomach for 8 hrs then try eating?! I know you are suppost to do that with food poisioning. I had food poisioining once and my dh keep making me eat, I made him call the hospital and they said stop feeding her, it is just making it worse! I have never let him live that down! You and take care,
Guest guest
Amy, On my really nauseaus days, I have been drinking lots of Punch flavored Gatoraide, which seems to help. Also, eggs seems to be great! I guess they're not too heavy, and since they are an embryo perhaps they provide something the baby needs (my husband constantly tells me that I make a horrible doctor, but it works for me! LOL!!!). maria Re: Amy Amy, Sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. I have terrible nausea and in the past 2 days I couldn't even count how many times I have thrown up. Guest guest
Kim, you must've been sick all of the time to be able to eat so much pudding and still lose weight!!! I've been trying to watch what I do snack on... oranges, lemons (which I read helps with nausea). Anything healthy I can tolerate. I don't remember what I weighed when I went to the dr the day of my first u/s, but I'm almost positive that I didn't gain any weight between then and my appt last week. Even before speaking to the dr about it, I had decided that I was going to try to eat perfectly so I could not gain too much weight. So I haven't done the best with my eating habits (still ate some chips a few times, and the other night I broke down and had popcorn w/ butter), but I haven't been eating fattening foods all day long. I'm actually rather proud of myself. As far as drinking water, well, I'm always a big water drinker... But the thing is that I don't drink very much early in the day and by nighttime I have to cut back so I won't wake up in pain from having to pee so bad. I'm doing much better w/ that now that I'm on chewable vitamins... Anyway, I'm going to use you as my inspiration that I can go through this pg w/out gaining much weight. Hope you don't mind!! ;O) Amy Amy Amy,I hope that you are feeling better. I know that with me I got nauseaus or a headache whenever I did not keep eating. So I learned to eat something small all the time, even when I had to choke it down. I lived on perogies and chocolate pudding for 10 weeks. My doc told me he did not want me to gain weight either, and luckily since I was so sick I only ate a little bit and now that I am not sick, I eat regularly like I did before pg, and still have not put on any weight. At 23 weeks I am still -2 lbs. from where I was at my first appt.I think that your doctor telling you to only eat 3 meals and nothing else is to hard to do, for you and your body. If you eat small meals and snacks throughout the day you would probably feel better. I know I eat a lot of fruit and yogurt, vegetables, and that seems to be keeping the weight off. Oh yeah, I drink my 8-10 glasses of water, I think that is also helping, since I am peeing all day.It is almost over, hang in there.Kim
Guest guest
Amy, Why not give your doctor a call and ask him about the PremesisRX, he may prescribe that instead. A lot of doctors are only familiar with what the local drug reps introduce to them. Even if he's never used it, it shouldn't be hard to find out about it; and it never hurts to ask.... just a thought! Also, try eating a soft boiled egg, I know it sounds gross, but it really works great! I wake up feeling horrible every morning, then I feel great after I eat. About 4 hours later the nausea returns, then I eat another egg, and I'm great for the next 3-4 hours! maria Re: Amy , not sure if I'm gonna try it. Guest guest
Kim You are so lucky that you have not put on a lot of weight. Its sounds like you eat really well. Even though I have m/s I have been packing on the pounds. I eat a lot of junk. Fruits and vege's just don't interest me right now. I am hoping they will soon. I am trying to drink a lot of water but it is so hard. I am going back to the gym next week. I have already gained 10 pounds and I am only 14 weeks. Guest guest
Amy, Yes, I guess I did eat a lot of pudding! I can't even look at it now. I was sick from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. every day and then I would feel better and be able to eat. I set my weight gain goal at 15 lbs, but for once my body had other plans and so far it has been good. I have gained back 4 llbs that I lost, and I am sure at my next visit I will have started to gain weight. I do eat pretty healthy, but I still have my junk food, lately it is chocolate. I am a chocohalic, but luckily while I was sick I did not crave sweets at all, but now it is back! I am hooked on Almond Joys, and I keep saying at least the almond is healthy. I just hope this good luck continues for the remainder of the pg, I can hope. Now my dh on the other hand, I always try to keep an eye on what he is eating and give him healthy goods and he said that when I was down and sick, he went haywire, he saw it as a free pass! I just laughed, but seriously he has to watch what he eats because he has high triglycerides, so we are working on his eating again. Guest guest
Pam, I always ate a lot of fruit before I was pg, but now that I am pg, I crave it even more. I guess it is when your stomach does not feel well, the fruit tastes refreshing, because it is not heavy. The funny thing about my eating is that 2 years ago my dh and I went to a nutritionist because he had high triglycerides and we wanted to get them under control via nutrition instead of medicine. She put him on a special diet, and I did it with him since we are always together and I wanted to make it easier for him. You have to eat fat free, sugar free and a lot of fiber. At first it was really hard, but then after a week or so you don't crave the sugar! Anyway, I still see this little red headed nutritionist every time I reach for something that is not on the eating plan and hear her saying that is not healhty. I usually have it anyway, but I always see her! What influence she has for only one visit! She told us that she breaks a small brownie into 4 parts and has a small piece each day when she wants it. I think she is nuts! I hope that you ms goes away soon, mine started to go away as soon as I hit 16 weeks. Kim

I am not sure why my body is being good to me with this pg, but I am not complaining! I am going to have to lay off of chocolate though, because the last week as soon as I eat it, my heart is racing and the baby starts kicking like crazy (I am happy about kicking!) but not heart racing, it is so uncomfortable.
