Guest guest
Becks, I have a couple of friends on that no carb thing, too. They have lost some pounds, but one of them has lost more because she was put on thyroid, finally, after years of fighting with the docs. I wish you the best with that. I gave up dieting of any kind years ago when I realized I was still gaining weight in spite of it all. I haven't put on a single pound since I stopped the rollercoaster. I'm so glad felt comfortable enough to talk frankly with you about his past. That is one of the most difficult things to get going, and even more difficult to hear about. I know. Bless you, Hon, for being there for him. Glad he is doing so much better. My boys are fine. The yard looks wonderful, but I ended up hiring a third boy. He turned out to be a heck of a worker, and put my Randy (15) to shame. Randy is slow, and lazy, so it showed him what a real worker can do. By the end of the first week, he was really working, too. Reesey (11) is more than willing to work, but too light for a lot of the hard stuff. He helped me pull ivy, weeds, and plant some flowers in the old planter boxes I used to use for vegetable gardening. Looks really nice with it full of impatiens, verbena and pinks. I love cinnamon pinks, though I always wondered why they named something that smells like cloves "cinnamon". LOL The original contracts with the boys, if they had done the work themselves alone, would have made them each $240. But, with a third, and better worker in the picture after the first three days, it ended up costing me more, but my boys made a little less than they had counted on before they found out how MUCH work was involved. The pictures and words in the contract didn't wake them up, I guess. Yes! I am the queen of mean. Anyway, there is now a pressure treated redwood border around three sides of the house, filled in with shredded redwood bark, and large pots of flowers. The back patio is now clean, the borders filled in with the shredded redwood bark, and all the planter boxes full of flowers. It looks so much neater, and pretty with the tables up and the umbrellas out. Like a Paris street cafe, the neighbors say. So, that's how we are. I am tired at the end of each day, but the iron being doubled, and the thyroid have made a real difference in my energy levels, and the Plaquenil is working on the Lupus thing, at last. I take each day as it comes, and have only had to be down a couple of days the last two weeks, compared to every day last Spring. Hope you are as lucky, too. Love, MM
Guest guest
Hi MM, Everything is ok. I've just been real busy with . I wrote an update the other night, you must have deleted it....... *grin* finally came clean with me about abuse he suffered at his former foster home. It was NOT pretty! I cried for hours after he went to bed that night. I could not believe the abuse he suffered! I felt so terrible! He is doing unbelieveably well now and I am so very proud of him. He is a totally different kid! We are busy with Cross Country season under way. I am on no carb diet. Trying to get my sugar down again. Other than that all is well! How are the boys doing with Mom/ Boss? Love, Becky minniemyno@... wrote: Hiya Becks. Where you been, girlfriend? Miss your posts. Hope you are not having a bad flare again. Guest guest
is doing so much better and I am so proud of him. We were told today that he is not eligible for adoption subsidies because he is a juvenile deliquent. Chris' insurance will cover medical but not any mental stuff. And we can't afford to pay for the court ordered counseling (to the tune of $8,000!) So the adoption is ???? we don't know where. says he does not need a piece of paper to tell him where he belongs. Then today we got told his case worker is changing. Grrrrrrrr! What state are you in???? being a delinquent is what should qualify him for subsidy AND they shoud pay for ALL of his counseling and mental health issues. We have to put our kids on our insurance, but subsidy picks up every penny they dont pay. Even for their braces and eye glasses. This just doesn't sound right, is this the case worker telling you this? sorry, didn't mean to butt in, it's just that we have four kids on subsidy and it is meant for kids just like yours that need it most!!! a

Guest guest
Becks, Firstly, I'm glad your sugars are coming down. That is very important to your continued survival. Secondly, AAP monies are not contingent on good behavior of these kids. If it were, 75% of the adopted special needs kids would not be eligible, and that would include my eldest son. He is currently receiving over $7000/month in special facility payments through AAP to keep him in the mental health facility he is currently staying at. So,you tell that worker, whoever it is, that they are full of shit. Call the Children's advocate in the Adoptions Unit at your state level human services department if the county level unit will not give you the right info. Gotta advocate for these kids all the time, or the system will bite you and them in the ass. I'm dead serious, here. Most adoption units will try to get you to do all the support of these kids, and not pay you a dime. However, if they want these kids to be placed and get them the services mandated by law, then they must give you AAP monies to cover it. It should start, by federal mandate, at the foster fee level for that child, and then should be increased to cover special costs like therapy, scouting, summer camps, special devices or tutors, etc. You may have to provide receipts for these additional expenses, but the whole idea behind AAP is to make it possible for families who ordinarily would qualify to adopt in every other way, but who could not support a special needs child's additional expenses, to be able TO adopt these hard to place kids. THAT is the whole purpose behind the money, to begin with. So, don't let them bamboozle you over that issue. Stick to your guns. Good luck and keep me posted. Guest guest
Ardie, Yup. I remember. My Great Uncle had an old fashioned Danish dairy up in the coastal foothills of southern Washington State. My Great Aunt Grace, his wife, was my grandfather's sister, and my grandfather and she came across the prairies in a covered wagon in the late 1880's. She used to tell us about that trip when we were kids. Uncle used Bag Balm for everything from cow's teats, to greasing the tent poles when they got stuck during a camping trip. He used it to grease his salmon rods when he was going fishing on the Columbia River, too. LOL My mother used to tell us about him rocking me when I was tiny, and singing me to sleep. He couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, but he always put us both to sleep. LOL Love, MM
