Guest guest
Hi, my name is . I am 75 and have had Afib since Feb 2000, along with irregular heart beat. I have been on Warfarin since Feb 2000 also. After the Electro-cardioversion did not work in Jun 2000, I was told that I would be on Warfarin for the rest of my life. He had the machine turned up so high that it actually blistered me around the electrodes and could not stop the heart. So---- I am one of the people that do not really know that I have Afib. The irregular heartbeat I can spot by checking my pulse. I have tightness in my chest from the COPD and it feels very similar to what angina and also the heart attact just before the CABG surgery. I don't really feel pain, just a tightness or heaviness in my chest. Actually, I do not know what to look for in symptoms of Afib. It started while I was in the hospital with pneumonia, or it probably would not have been detected unless I had to have an EKG for some reason. I have been following the progress of Exanta (the new blood thinner) through the system. They submitted it to the FDA, for approval, just before Christmas. Probably take two or three years for that. in Portland OR
