The term is pseudo tumor. Sometimes I've seen it as pseudotumor cerebri.

Maybe that will help your search.

Diagnosis

> Hello, I am new to this group. I just received a confirmation diagnosis

of Chiari Malformation I. My doctor has recommended a lumbar puncture. He

said it is to determine the pressure of the CSF. He also said that he is

more concerned with not the malformation itself but with a Suto <SP> (Fake)

tumor. I was referred to the neurologist based on the MRI result from by

GYN. I have never heard of a Suto tumor or fake tumor before and have not

been able to find any information on it. Anyone else have this experience?

Your thoughts and experiences are greatly appreciated in this matter.

In 1983 0r 84 the dreaded DRGs took effect. I don't know for sure what it stands for: Diagnostic ...

There was then a new federal law that every single little thing had to have a number - everything from a runny nose to a major stroke. Every time you go in to see your doctor there's a billing sheet on the front of your chart with all sorts of numbers on it. These are DRG numbers. The more diagnosis you have then the easier it is for your doctor to bill your insurance. There is always the possibility your doctor added it to help with billing. I'm not saying he added a diagnosis you don't have. Some insurance companies get uppity at times and so doctors need to add a diagnosis or two if they can to make sure they get paid as much as possible for the visit. Blab, Blab, Blab. Sorry!! Expressing myself is a real problem lately. Hugs - a B.SANDRA QUACKENBUSH wrote:

I noticed on my sheet for my new blood work that they have added RA to diagnosis. That's the first time that has been on there. Usually he just has lupus and sjogrens on there. Wonder why?

I am in my sixties now and new to the list. I was only diagnosed with type 2

about a year after I became paraplegic six years ago and couldn't exercise.

However, I had high triglyceride levels since my early twenties and big babies

which my obstetrician at the time said, from his studies, was a warning of

late-onset diabetes.

At the time, the paraplegia was a greater worry and I kept things in check with

the diet put out by the Diabetes Association, National Heart Foundation and the

Anti-Cancer Council here in Australia. It relies on low glycaemic carbohydrates,

very limited fats and sugars and works well for me.

However, after four years I had to start on tablets and my weight is still

spiralling despite the diet and my tablets (sugars are just in check but

rising). I would like to know if anyone else out there is in the same position

as I am, and can suggest exercise that might use up some calories. I have stuck

to my 1600 calorie a day diet for five years now and it has not been easy.
