Guest guest
Hi Monika, Yes, it's very common to have an impaction and have what appears to be diarrhea. The hard mass is lodged in the colon, and the liquids that your body makes naturally build up behind the impaction, then move around the mass of hardened feces and exit the body in a liquid form, but the impaction doesn't move. As said, lots of liquids, and lots of stool softener on a regular basis, not just when the patient becomes constipated or impacted. I would think that any patient who is on a daily dose of narcotic pain med would also be on a daily dose of stool softener. Docusate Sodium, or Colace comes to mind. I would agree with you, ... he should talk to one of his Drs soon about it so it doesn't build up more if that is indeed what he is suffering from. Many prayers for all. Bert is most comfortable when he is lying down...although >he doesn't seem to have as much cramping today as he did >yesterday...just still so very, very tired. I asked him again this >morning what it feels like and he again compared it to the kind of >pains a " normal " person would have when they are about to get >diarrhea. I am very worried and I will again insist that he call his >onc tomorrow and report what is going on. He goes in for number five >of round two this Thursday. I don't know if they will want him to >come in tomorrow or if they think it can wait until Thursday. I just >don't know. Thanks again for writing back. > >Fondly, >Monika > _________________________________________________________________ Concerned that messages may bounce because your Hotmail account has exceeded its 2MB storage limit?
