Guest guest
Interesting . . . What kind of treatment is offered, or does this usually clear up on it's own? . . . Caused by bacteria, stress . . . maybe anesthesia? Is it possible the fat transfer led to the problem? Please take exceptionally good care of yourself! . . . We'll keep you in our prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
The Pulmonary specialist I saw today said it " should " resolve on its own. I'll do a breathing test Tues to see if I will get cleared for uterine biopsy next sat. He said he believed it was caused from the " explant " surgery. He laughed at the word " explant " . My visit with him today is a whole other long story....OMG It can be caused by a misplaced tube during surgery but is supposedly very common with chest area surgeries that last over 3 hours. They are not sure of the exact cause. Believe it is related to anesthesia. I don't think the fat transfers had anything to do with it but I would suspect the length of the surgery does. I'll write more later. > > Interesting . . . > > What kind of treatment is offered, or does this usually clear up on it's own? . . . Guest guest
Cathie & anyone interested in just a good doctor story.... I have to say first that I'm not sure this story has any real valuable information but some of you will appreciate it. Brief background: I'm trying to get cleared for a surgical bioppsy a week from today and my chest x ray showed problems so I had to find a doctor to clear me.. my own dr was going out of town) I should have known when I had called the 3 recommended pulmonary specialists offices and they couldn't see me for another month.. I might be in trouble. And.. I should have known that it's not a good idea to go down the list from the insurance providers list (like the yellow pages) and take an apt with the 12th place I called. But I really wanted to get cleared so off I went to my 4:15 pm appointment yesterday. First I noticed that the office was in a very bad part of town. When I went in I saw there was one window to check in for appointments and one for walk ins. There were other doctors in this practice. I waited 1 1/2 hours past my scheduled arrival time before I went to the window to say I was leaving... In that time I noticed that the place was very dirty and I watched so many people " walk in " . Some were drunk, some unable to walk and " trying to get a refill on their prescription " . Well... it was Friday evening in Vegas baby... The nurse quickly ran out from the back and called my name to come back. I waited another 45 minutes (or more) to see the doctor. There was no rhyme or reason to the order patients were seen. The doctor seemed to wander in and out of rooms seeing whoever struck his fancy. When I finally thought I was next one of his nurses said she wasn't feeling well and walked into the empty exam room next to mine asking the doctor to see her now.... It was insane. After that he walked by my open exam room door and asked " if I was here to see a doctor? " Luckily my husband was with me and it was so bad that we just started laughing and could hardly quit. When he came in.... He asked me every question that I had answered on the long list you fill out when you check in. I wanted to ask if he could read... please just read my answers.... (I didn't). He said " explant surgery! " and laughed....saying that is a funny word for that. He took 2 phone calls on his cell while examining me. One of them he left the room for. My husband figured it was probably his " bookie " . One question he asked was " Do you do your husbands laundry? " . I do hope he was trying to make a joke... it was so bizarre. All this said... I do believe he knew some things about medicine. I do believe that the xeroxed copy of his medical degree on the wall was really probably earned by him but I do know I'll never go back there for another medical problem. (I guess I'll go for the breathing test though as I think I'll have to have this to get cleared for surgery) In the end he said my atelectasis was from the long surgery in my chest area (explant LOL) ...not uncommon. I have to go back Tues for a breathing test and if I pass that he will clear me. When he spoke to his assistant about the breathing test... they didn't speak english. I guess I'll go for the test... just to get a copy of the results. I have an apt with my gp on Wed so I can bring him the results I suppose. OMG... I hope I can get better soon and not have to go to anymore doctors for awhile. > > > In a message dated 10/6/07 1:02:35 AM, bnincongo@... writes: > > > > The Pulmonary specialist I saw today said it " should " resolve on its > > own. Guest guest
Hi Dede, Thanks for reading my ranting story about that doc... it was crazy. I will go for the breathing test tomorrow but I'm going to try to walk out with results. I have an apt will my regular doctor Wed am and I want to bring everything to him. I trust him more than I do that crazy doctor. I have a sneaking feeling I won't get cleared for surgery for Sat. unless they can come up with another way to do it besides general anesthesia. I don't know. I do really want the biopsy's over but if I have to wait, I will. anesthesia always scares me anyway and with my current lung problems it is more of a concern. We will see.... Today is my day off from Doctors.... I have a doctors appointment every other day this week with surgery on Sat... (if it happens). Thanks for your support. > > ~ > My goodness, what a story that was quite > a story ! ! What is it with these pulmonary > specialists? Kinda scarey.....I Hope your > breathing test goes well.
