Guest guest
Hi Stacey, Since you are going to be in Texas, here is a thought for you and your sister. We go to CTRC (Cancer Therapy and Research Center) in San , Texas. While I was waiting on to get his IMRT treatment I picked up a newspaper they publish. I was surprized to find out that they played one of the biggest parts in the Iressa Clinical Trial. They have just finished adding on 2 new 4 story buildings and are doing all kinds of things there. I had no idea what all they do there, probably because we always head for the 3rd floor. Hope this helps, Joyce > Hi everyone, > > Thank you for your posts. Guest guest
Hi Stacey, Please be sure to let us know anything you find out. I've heard a little bit about Burzynski, but more in the context of brain cancer where perhaps he has had better success than with colon (remember, success with one form of cancer does NOT necessarily carry over into other forms). I did know a CC patient who called Burz. and tried to get details of his success rates for CC (5- year " cure " rates) - somehow they didn't seem too much different from what would be expected if you went entirely with conventional therapy. What concerned me a lot more was the cost of the whole thing - could be up to $100,000/year (not paid by insurance!) is what I heard. Normally in a " clinical trial " the cost of the experimental drug is covered by the sponsor, but my understanding was that Burzynski expects you to pay anyway. Of course, under those circumstances how could there be a " control arm " in the trial, and if there is no control arm you have nothing to compare against to see if it worked or not... Anyway, hope you have a good time in Dallas w/ family and friends...and please do post your impressions of the clinic! Best Wishes, > Hi everyone, > > Thank you for your posts. Guest guest
This is a GREAT idea, Joyce! Check out as many different clinics/doctors as you can while you're in the area! Guest guest
Hi Stacey: I too am very interested. I went looking through the info on the internet about Burzynski after your post and found some interesting information similar to what discusses below. I'm quickly learning how incredibly political cancer is. So do keep us posted. I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip. Laurie > > Hi everyone, > > > > Thank you for your posts.
