Guest guest
If you will go to wwww.snopes.com, you will find that the scares about aspartame are a hoax which has been thoroughly debunked. That being said, some individuals do react badly to it, so I'd see what it does to you. Many artificial sweetners break down with heat, so can be used only in limited ways in cooking. Also, in some recipies the sugar does more than sweeten, but provides something else to the chemistry of the cooking process; this also limits the use of artificial sweetners. SPLENDA is chemically closer to sugar than most other artificial sweetners, so it will work in cooking where others won't. Aspertame question I've been trying to do a lot of reading since dh was diagnosed Tuesday. I'm wondering about this aspertame issue. Is anyone afraid of using it? Does everyone use a specific kind of artificial sweetner? Or do you feel it is all hype? Dh is thinking of switching to Diet Coke, but I'd hate for him to switch from one bad habit to another if aspertame is truly an issue. Thanks for all the great responses I've already gotten from my intro post! Guest guest
I was told during my diabetic education classes to stay away from artificial sweeteners, which I would have done anyway. But I know a lot of people use them and don't have a problem with them. Guest guest
Yes, due to the fact that it can make you more hungry then before. But not with everyone. And nowadays, splenda is used in the sugar free teas, sugar free juices, flavored waters, and some other deserts. It is safe to use for consumption and baking. This is called sucralose. You will see it in the ingredients. I dont really drink carbonated beverages much. They are not healty, be in regular or sugar free. Its reall hard on the kidneys, the carbonation. Now if I do drink them. There is a way to get rid of the carbonation real fast. That is by adding any sweetner to it, but slowly, then mix and a few seconds you have a flat soda. Now that I like. as for an earlier post on aftertaste. I dont think there is one. You may be confused with saccarhin, which has been proven to cause cancer. It even says so on the package. Sweetnlow is one brand. NOw that I dont like. It does have an aftertaste. Aspartame, to me does not. bggagne4@... wrote: I was told during my diabetic education classes to stay away from artificial sweeteners, which I would have done anyway.
