Guest guest
Sharon (good ole Texan) Half a glass of milk, 5-6 crackers and peanut butter, one piece of sugar free wheat and cheese, uh... will find out more tomorrow. These may be snacks for someone putting-on weight, but it helps T1 to have a bedtime snack after Lantus. I think it's important to have carb and protein - what mix we're still working on that. I mean she wakes up in morning low-high 40's sometime, she'll have 240+ after a meal sometime. Alot of time she is in range. Since she started having a snack a BT and dropped her lantus dosage a little - her morning reading have been better. I say it's her counting and combining that's throwing her off. The Endo already says " would be an ideal candidate for a pump. " Do you think the Endo gets a kickback? & T1

I made some muffins with Quaker oats, apricots and whole wheat flour- -and some walnuts. Kept them in the fridge and gave them a quick nuke--added low fat/fat free cream cheese or I Can't Believe it's Not Butter. Seemed to be a good snack. I used small muffin tins--not minis but they weren't big muffins. There's a blueberry/applesauce/whole wheat bran muffin that is wonderful. I can check around for that. Fresh blueberries are coming pretty soon around here. IF the birds don't beat us to them again this year. Dried cranberries would be good, too. Hi Sharon, I do not eat a bedtime snack since I eat dinner late. I eat dinner between 7-8 pm. Have been doing this for 25 yrs. My big meal is lunch, then for dinner I have a lite meal. Sometimes I have cottage cheese with fruit for dinner. Also, have cottage cheese with fruit or cottage cheese with a couple spoons of yogurt and cereal mixed together for breakfast. I always have normal readings after eating cottage cheese. You could have some cottage cheese for a snack during the day, then test to see how it affects your bg's. hugs Eunice

Oh, I would love to be able to eat bananas. That is the one fruit I cannot eat. I believe blueberries get ripe in July/Aug in this area. I'm just waiting for them. I have a friend that has an orchard - blueberries, peaches, apples. I'll put lots of berries in the freezer. hugs Eunice
