Guest guest
Isn't it amazing that we feel such relief when our pain is validated. I remember seeing my doc last fall and she looked at me, held my hand and said, " I want you to know that this is not in your head. I can see you beating yourself up about it. You are just the shell of the woman that walked in here five years ago. " Like you, I cried all the way home. and it was a long drive. I'm sorry you have fibro, but I'm glad your doc understands. My usual monthly appointment. I saw the doctor today instead of his P.A. or nurse practitioner. (I guess they were not there). I had tears in my eyes when I left because he said something to me that made me feel a sigh of relief. I could not believe it. He told me fibromyalgia is a real disease, it is not imagined and not " all in your head " . He said there is alot of new research now and ways to treat it. He said it involves flushing toxins from the body, and said that he knows that the muscles feel like you have overworked them everyday. Of course he knows I have no insurance and understands that right now I cannot go through the testing and all the things it takes to get to the root of the problem. But he gave me my " bandaids " .... the hydrocodone, xanax, and flexeril refills without batting an eye. And he put on the prescription to take the hydrocodone prn for severe pain. I have never had him tell me that he thought this is real. I am beside myself and thanking god that I have a doctor who really understands. He studies alot and I think he is involved in alot of research on alot of illnesses. He studies under some world reknowned Dr. (but I can't remember his name). Anyway, I rarely see him when I go for an appointment. It is usually one of his helpers. But he just does not know how what he said made me feel so much better about talking about the fibro. He said, you know I don't have time today to talk alot but there are other things that can be done. (unfortunately I don't have insurance). He did mention Lyrica but said he knew it was expensive. I wanted to hug him. I am so fortunate to have him for a doctor. Love you all and wish you the best, Debra Van Ness --------------------------------- Choose the right car based on your needs.
