Did you get a Lollipop or Full Anchor Lift w/ your explant?

Few questions if you don't mind...

Did you do them together?

Approximate cost?

Are you happy with the outcome? Anything you would do differently if you could go back?

Any problems with your lift that required follow-up visits?

Thanks,

~

, I had my explant and anchor lift in the same surgery. I dont' know the full cost, as it was covered by my insurance. I think I paid about $1000 on my credit card. The rest I never saw. I'd say it was at least $4500. I am happy with the outcome. So is my husband. If I could do anything different, I would have explored a lollipop lift instead of the anchor lift. I would have loved to not have the horizontal scar, though it is so faded it is barely visible now. But if I only had the vertical scar, my breasts would probably look untouched. I had no problems with my lift that required any additional work. I think the last time a doctor had to deal with my breasts was the stitch removal from the explant surgery done by Dr. Hiatt in 1998. Since then I've been FREE!!!!! Patty <pablohoneyme@...> wrote: Few questions if you don't mind... Did you do them together? Approximate cost? Are you happy with the outcome? Thanks so much Tricia. I didn't know insurance EVER covered explants, let alone lifts??? Was there a special circumstance?

How long after the explant/lift did you return to have the stitches removed? Just wondering if I use a doctor out of town how long I'll have to stay there..thanks~

Most doctors can remove stitches, you would not have to stay.

Hi , I don't know about a special circumstance. I was simply a scared woman trying to get those stupid implants out, and trusted God to work out the details. He sure did! My doctor knew what to write on the letter for requesting insurance coverage. I know that he did not mention that they were saline implants, did not mention how long I'd had them, (less than a year) and he stated that I had Baker IV contractures. I think the stitches were removed after about a week to 10 days. Patty <pablohoneyme@...> wrote: Thanks so much Tricia. I didn't know insurance EVER covered explants, let alone lifts??? I was afraid to get my insurance company involved at all with my

explant surgery. I have health problems that need to be addressed

(most probably caused from silicone implants in for 20 years), and I

was afraid that even if they paid to remove them, they could/would at

some point then say my illnesses were caused by my implants and they

would not cover any of the related medical bills...

Anyone else have this thought?

I am with a private insurance company right now through my husbands work.

,

This would definitely be a concern. Insurance

companies are not exactly ethical and will look

for reasons not to cover illnesses.

If you can pay for your explant, I would do that.

Lynn, It would be interesting if your insurance company could "prove" your health problems were caused by breast implants! . . . Then we could all sue everyone involved! I don't think you have to worry about that happening. . . I haven't heard of anyone's insurance refusing to pay for implant illnesses while they paid for other problems . . . The big thing to worry about is refusal of coverage if you ever need private coverage. However, according to some stuff I've recently seen on TV, health insurance companies have been going all out to refuse claims. If you have a good company, hang onto it! Hugs, Rogene

Rogene,

We will have to switch insurance companies when my husband retires

again. I'm afraid they will declare everything a " preexisting

condition " . I'm not sure how that works.

There is a federal law that makes employers grant leaves for " family

medical leave " . My husband works for the school district here and

applied for this to cover his absence when we went to Denver for

explant surgery. He was denied the coverage because they said my

explant surgery was " cosmetic surgery " .

He appealed it... Dr Huangs office sent " more information " and we just

found out is was approved.

I think they are all alike....deny any claim the first time. If the

person persists... well..

, Hopefully you'll be able to find coverage . .. Cobra is good for about 18 months - then you're on you own until you're Medicare age. . . Between Medicare and an AARP supplement, we've never had such good coverage. There is no exemption for pre-existing conditions with either. I'm glad your hubby was compensated for his time off with you! . . . I can see exempting cosmetic surgery though for a number of reasons. . . But what about the blow-back from smoking, drinking, overeating, reckless behavior, etc.? Hugs, Rogene
