Guest guest
Hi Lois, I am going to paste the symptoms list that Terry put together on here, many of us contributed to it and Terry got it organized. It is from message 3706 in the archives. Take note that not everyone suffers every symptoms, but you may be having some of these problems and not attributing them to GD. Guest guest
Thanks Jody, Interestingly, even though my labs are currently hypo, I haven't had many of the hypo symptoms listed. Probaqbly only the split cracked nails, but then throughout my life I have had that. The list is great. I will copy it and put in a place I can easily refer to, like my thyroid log and information binder. <:Lois > Hi Lois, > I am going to paste the symptoms list that Terry put together on here, many > of us contributed to it and Terry got it organized. It is from message 3706 > in the archives. ______ Anybody, I don't know if this one is a symptom or not but it is something i have wondered about all my life. I am beginning to think the beginnings of this illness go way, way back for me. You are mainly of an age that will remember President Kennedy's physical fitness campaigne? Each year we school children had to take tests to see how fit we were. No training for the tests, per se, just go out and make your best effort. I was great at sprints, coming in quicker than the top boys, but on the 600 yard run, I was really suffering! My side would hurt, my heart would pound wildly and I simply couldn't keep up the pace of my school mates, who all ran 600 yds with no problem. I couldn't finish the run, except at a walk and even that was hard once I was winded. The same thing in hiking up a mountain, the others had stamina, which I couldn't find anywhere. Does this sound familiar to any of you? Also, once in late teens or early 20s, I had a fever and a doctor listened to my heart. He said he heard a murmer, but no one has ever heard it since. Anybody else with a similar experience? Peace,

Thanks for the response. I am going to share it with my friend who thinks i should get out and run. I tried to explain to her what happens, but she thinks I could do it, I just don't want to enough! I should just go with her one day. She'd probably lay off if she saw me in action! Maybe short quick bursts of energy are the edge on survival that this disease provides...like diabetes gives an edge in a famine. karen
