Katy, Maybe you can convince them that those implants (and capsules) must come out while you're at the hospital. This should show them that something about your breasts are causing a problem. Hugs, Rogene

Oh, Katy, many women have developed this rash. That is why those implants must come out. I am sorry that this happening to you, but you will get through this. Can you have someone take a picture of your chest? You should really see your family doctor because this is not normal.

Wouldn't You Know It..

Hi Ladies,Well I am heading back to the hospital because I have developed a rash all over my torso (mostly around my breasts) which I was warned about at the time I got my CT scan. I guess I am having a negative reaction to the stuff they injected into me. No wonder I have been so nauseated and feeling so bad! Just wondering if anybody has had this experience (they told me less than 1% of people react) and how long it lasts for? I know when I go back they are going to give me more drugs to counteract the reaction. Of course, I will be missing more work yet again:(Katy:)

Interesting question, also, when I had the dye they said to me, are you allergic to iv dye or shell fish? so, I wonder what the correlation would be......hum...worth a research !

Well I am feeling much better today:) I have to go

back and get my kidneys checked to make sure they are

doing ok after having the contrast dye. The good new

is that I will never have that contrast dye again!

they will have to find another way to do my medical

imaging or something besides that type of iodine for

the contrast.

I saw 3 people yesterday, 1 nurse and 2 drs. The nurse

knew right away when she saw the rash. She also knew

that the contrast dye would make me feel awful and

seriously nauseous if I was reacting to it. She also

said that it would mimic feelings of anxiety. Bingo!

Nurses are the backbone of the medical industry I tell

ya!!

The first Dr came in tried to tell me I was having a

reaction to the supplements from my naturopath and

suffering from ANXIETY!!! He said I must be stressed

out with the appendix and all... He was relentless

with his theory. I told him it was no coincedence that

I had just had a CT scan 24 hrs ago and was now

experiencing this. He finally agreed to get a second

opinion and the 2nd Dr, a woman, walked in, saw the

rash and said yes, I was allergic to the contrast dye

and to make a note on my chart and give me gravol and

antihistamines adn bring me back in the morning for

bloodwork.

Dede, I thought you'd be able to appreciate this

absurdity!

Thank you, I am feeling much better today and the rash

is settling after a very long rest and anthistamines.

The Drs told me that a reaction like that is not

normal and that is why they are testing my kidneys

today. It is amazing that with everything in my chart

they do not think the implants have anything to do

with my body being reactive. Luckily, my naturopathic

Dr does:)

I miss coffee most of all. I'm sorry that you are

still not able to drink it. Once in a while I indulge

in a cup of decaf, but even that can make me feel bad.

All coffee is bad for IBS.. I Still enjoy the smell of

it, eventhough I am not drinking it these days.

I thought it was curious that I had a reaction to a

type of iodine. Do you have any thoughts about this in

regards to thyroid? Maybe it is an altered type they

use for contrast... ??

Thanks for thinking about me! The worst of it is over,

the rash is clearing and I am feeling more normal and

less ill. The good news is I will not get that

contrast dye again!

One Dr I saw yesterday tried to tell me it was

ANXIETY! Wow, I am so sick of that!! Thankfully I saw

an second Dr who knew right away and a nurse who was

the most helpful of all 3. Antihistamines helped

settle things down and I am in such a good mood today

because I do not have nausea and a headache. I think I

will even be able to go to work!

Katy, I am so happy it wasnt worse and that you are feeling better. Isn't it wonderful how one good day can cheer us up so much. I wish I could record a good day and watch it on a bad so that I know what to hope for again.

I HATE the anxiety cope out too. I think anxiety is caused by an underlying issue and it is a crappy diagnosis by itself!! I went to a new endocrinologist on Monday. My appt was at 3:00, she didn't see me until 4:15. RIDICULOUS!! Then she pretty much told me that the heart palps I have every now and again are all anxiety!! Not my thyroid, not my Hashi's - anxiety. Well there is another doctor who will never see me again.

Thank you so much for the advice on the stools. You are right, it looked like mucous. I love many of the things on that list, so I need to add them to my diet.

Oh, I got the yoga CD. Whoa mama, some of those positions are crazy. I don't think my body will ever get that flexible. I will have to modify the positions. I did the PM relaxing chapter last night, I just loved it - - even if I couldn't get my body to do some of the things. I am sure if anybody would have seen me it would have been a sight : )

Lynn,

As soon as you get used to the yoga positions they

will become easier. I still cannot do the shoulder

stand and have been practising now for years! Never

worry about trying to get into the positions as far as

the instructor, don't push it, just do what feels

good:) I find even half hour gets the tension out of

my body and relieves anxiety.

So far the only answer I got when I've been asking

about the contrast dye is that it is iodine. They were

asking me about drug allergies before I had the IV,

and told me about the warning signs which I later

developed. Thankfully it was not a severe reaction,

like anaphalactic or something. I will see if I can

find out more.

There was an ad on TV tonight asking for people who have recently had a bad reaction to contrast dye to contact them . . . 1 -800 BAD-DRUG. I think they're trying to put together a class action suit. I wonder if they do breast implants? Rogene
