Guest guest
Jany, We hear you. I can tell you are really frustrated. I am in the same boat, being frustrated that is. As Eunice had once said, it is difficult for some of us who have to decide to eat more properly or have the money to pay for meds. Right now I am struggling with both. There are days I just want to curl up and just cry my heart out. Thankfully, I know that is not the way to deal with this. I want to test more often so I can find out what works for me and that my son will eat as well. Unfortunately, I have a doctor that will not approve more than testing once a day. *sigh* Those strips cost a lot of money which I don't have!!!!! I am going to keep plugging with the doctor to approve more. Hopefully one day she will change her mind. Hang in there Jany, we are all here for you!!! Take care and God bless! gloria lysa, Type 2 San , TX gloria9055@... Jany wrote: I get so frustrated trying to work this crap out. But I keep plugging along with occasional rebelling. Guest guest
Gloria Thanks for the support! I am dealing without meds at this point but I imagine when I go for my check up in July, she will probably put me on the metformin. Geeze, Im fat enought without taking that stuff to add edema. Oh well. Will you insurance pay the extra for more strips? Tell Dr you want more strips so you can get a better grip on the glucose control. I would ask her (if it was me) why she didnt want you to test more, especially in the beginning stages.....My doc gives me 100 a month. Thats about 3 a day, which is reasonable. Some days I use a few, some days 5-6 and some days (rebelling) none! Jany Newbie 2b

Guest guest
Is metformin supposed to make folks gain weight? I'm on metformin and glipizide and have no weight problems with them. metformin HCL 500 mg at morning and before dinner glipizide 10 mg at morning and before dinner taking both times 30-40 minutes before eating Spyder moorheadspyder@... Actos and avandia are associated with weight gain and edema for some people. The sulfs, of which glipizide is one, are also sometimes associated with weight gain because they increase insulin production which can, for some people, make gaining weight much easier.
