Hi Everybody,

I just wanted to let you guys know that Matt and I remarried Friday.

After 21 years, it was too hard to just let go.

These days Boone talks almost non-stop, but still isn't *really*

conversational. He has gotten in the habit of spelling out whatever he's

talking about. It's very cute.

Sounds like Putter. ;-)

Way to go Sissi...I hope things continue to go well for you....

unless your doctor thinks your kidneys are stressed as mine and my dad's do.

One ounce at a time is all my dad is supposed to have because there were

proteins showing up in his urine. Since my kidneys are showing signs of

being stressed, I also try to keep meat or cheese to one ounce per meal --

but I'm eating 5 to 6 small meals a day, and that helps a lot. I eat about

every 2 to 3 hours, so small amounts actually feel good to me.

See what we mean, Terri? YMMV. (g) Test a lot, and call the professionals

who told you to do the one ounce thing and find out why they told you

that -- then you will know if there are any other health issues you should

consider.

you also need to find out why your urine has proteins in it... in

this case its not always due to kidney stress or kidney failure, it

can be due to eating a lot of protein, and or kidney stones as

well.... which do not require you to cut back on your protein

intake..... i've yet to find a stone that's caused by protein :)

I've been put on a max of 50 grams of carbo

a meal and a little more 1,200 calories a day. I bought a carb book

but it has only confused me more, when it comes to meat(beef mostly)

what is better?? Are grilled hamburgers o.k.???

I just seemed so depressing going to the grocery store today,it seems

so many more no's the yes's out there.

Terri,

Welcome to the list :-) Fifty grams of carbs a meal is a lot! That gives

you a lot of leeway, but can your body handle that many carbs? Mine can't

:-( If I have the grilled hamburgers, I don't eat the bun. I eat only one

piece of bread a day, and I'm happy to be able to eat that. Yet, I have

lots of variety in my meals. Don't be depressed... you'll get the hang of

it :-) Are you testing your blood sugar? You need to do that to find out

if 50 carbs a meal is the right amount for you or too many? For many of us

on this list, that's too many. Ask your questions, and we'll try to answer

:-) You're not alone.

Sandy

Dear Annette,

Your symptoms - effortless weight loss (we call it " My Diet Suddenly

Worked! " ), excessive thirst, excessive urination, and tiredness,

sound just like ketoacidosis. That's not good. What are your two-hour

post-meal glucose readings? What was your most recent HbA1c reading?

You report eating no-sugar, but " loads of fruit. " Many fruits are

filled with fructose, which is another form of sugar. I know a guy

who is having his toes lopped off in his doctor's office without

anesthesia because his neuropathy is so severe, and yet he promotes a

high-fruit diet. Fruit seduces diabetics because it is another sweet.

There are safe alternatives for the vitamins and fiber fruit

contains, which will not do such a whammy on us diabetics.

Hi ,

I am new to PLS also and new to the group. It has only been a couple of weeks

and found this site to be a wealth of information and love.

Everyone is so willing to help in any way they can. They are so supportive. I

have found answers to lots of questions, that maybe I forgot to ask the doctor

or was too embarrased.

Keep us posted.

Cookie (from what I thought was chilly NY until the numbers in Canada put it

in to perspective.

We're not all that well-adjusted and just brimming with good advice, some

of us are grumpy in general and at PLS in specific. But if they let people

like me hang out here, I'm sure all y'all will be more than welcome.
