Guest guest
I have had no noticable events for the past week. Also, I have not had any stomach trouble for the past week. The only change I have made has been greatly reducing the intake of carbohydrates while increasing protein. This, of course, is the well-known low-carb diet. This is too short a period of time to make any conclusions, but it is enough to make me ponder. Does this sound familiar to any of you? Guest guest
Chuck, about ten years ago I was having frequent but difficult to pin down stomach pains. After months of investigations, a sharp young gastroenterologist at UCSan Francisco Med Center diagnosed me as having a mild celiac condition - inability to handle wheat, oats, barley and rye. Turns out this condition is common among IrishAmericans (me). Since many of the carbohydrates that people cut out today on the various diets consist of wheat products (pasta, bread, cakes.....) I'm suspecting that some of the improvement in their lives comes not from reducing carbo per se, but from reducing wheat, to which they have perhaps insensitivity. Amazing where wheat hides - many mustards, all but " wheat free " soy sauce (which is hard to find but it's out there), as a binder in many pills, as a filler in many foods (wherever you see " modified food starch " as an ingredient, you are looking at wheat...whereas just plan " food starch " is corn meal....) etc. Just thinking aloud. The only change I have made has been greatly reducing the intake of carbohydrates (snip, snip......) Chuck
Guest guest
Oh, to Chuck again. Cutting out wheat (and all the pasta, cake, bread carbos.....) made absolutely no difference to the precursor of my AF, frequent atrial tachycardia, nor did wheat (or carbo of any kind) serve as a trigger to my AF - which was random with respect to time of day, stress, food intake, etc. (I'm now in chronic AF, so have no triggers to fuss with...)
