Guest guest
Do you have the lab's ranges for the T4 and the Free T3? Having a low TSH like that doesn't mean squat, in and of itself... we need to know where the Free's fall, thank goodness that they checked the Free T3. How do you FEEL? Do you feel hyper or ?? What thyroid med are you on right now and how much? AND for how long? Assuming that you have been sitting quietly for about 15 or 20 minutes.... check your pulse rate... How fast (beats per minute)? Guest guest
Sue, You should be getting hard copies of your labs. I got my labs over the phone once and forced them to fax me when they didn't want to. Turns out the nurse gave me my results from FIVE MONTHS PRIOR. Never, ever take someone's verbal word. Always get it faxed or mailed to you. We need the lab ranges to know what's going on. And your doctor knows this. Guest guest
You have the doc that thinks Armour is the amphetamine and is trying to take you off of it and put you on a lower dose of synthetics, right? You're mostly replacement dependant, having a low TSH means that your body is not feeling a NEED for more hormone.... We'd know a whole lot more if we knew the ranges of the Ts..... but... geeze... 37 years and you have no complaints... this is a new doc, if I remember your story right...and just thinks he knows everything better than you do.... I wouldn't be reducing my meds one little bit..... If I were you, I'd be calling them back and asking them for the lab's ranges so that you know where you fall within those ranges. Tell them that you want that info so that it will be easier for you to understand if things are changing... some story.. whatever.. just try to get that lab's ranges so that we have a better view..... IMHO, of course.... Guest guest
I don't know what your reference ranges are, but here's my latest labs, which look very similar to yours. TSH .006 FT3 3.8 (1.8-4.2) FT4 1.42 (.6-2) And after getting these labs, my Dr. upped my dosage! I'm beginning to feel better, and we figure one more dosage will be my optimal dose. I had labs where my TSH was about this low once before, and a different Dr. just panicked and dropped my dose way down. That began a year and a half of feeling like crap. If you FEEL good, I would not drop your dose and would find a Dr. better able to judge your condition than based on your TSH.
Guest guest
Hi, Uhmmm, you have been on this dose for 37 years...?How do you feel? the same as you did a year ago? Better? In what way? Worse? In what way? Personally, if I were you, and I was feeling great, hair all in place, skin looking radiant and healthy, nails looking clear and my clothes fit the way that they should.....I would challenge the doc in her/his reasoning for the lowering of your dosage. Get her/him to start thinking outside of the box that the schools put her/his mind into. If worse comes to worse, you may end up having to teach her/him a thing or two about Thryoid function and treatment. For your low potassium, you can eat more foods with higher potassium levels or quite simply go to the health food section of your local grocery store/pharmacy/vitamin store and pick up a potassium supplement and follow the directions on the bottle. ?Did the doc or her/his nurse say anything about your Iron or your Folic acid levels? Guest guest
That IS a Free T4 you have there, and, actually, the #s are looking very good here. I'm thinking that your low potassium may be causing the fast pulse rate, if your heart is having to speed up in order to pump blood around your body fast enough. Either low OR high potassium can cause this. Also, low potassium can make you feel weak and generally uncomfortable. The orange and banana are excellent sources of potassium, if you are not hypoglycemic. They're both very high glycemic index fruits. Don't take potassium in supplement form without supervision by labs. Have you ever been diagnosed with any kind of a kidney problem? Armour does not cause heart problems unless you are getting excessive doses of T3.. in your case the Armour at 120 mgs seems to have both your T4 and T3 in the higher but safe end of the range that most people would feel great on. Guest guest
, go thumb your nose at that doctor.... Look at your numbers and then look at the guides that we have learned are what most folks feel best at TSH 0.1 range( 0.40-4.0)Free Thyroxine 1.5 range (0.8 - 1.9)Triiodothyronine free 3.2 range ( 1.45 - 3.48) TSH, once on replacement hormone, under 1.0 AND the current range for TSH is .3 to 3.0, your doc and lab are two years behind on that... AND TSH is useless once on replacement unless there are pituitary or other issues. Free Thyroxine, Free T4... most folks feel best at mid range or slightly higher. mid range is 1.35... and you are slightly higher Triiodothyronine free, Free T3... most folks feel best at the top end of the range or slightly over... you're pretty darn close to the top.... Your numbers are pretty dog gone perfect AND you said that you've been on this for 37 years AND that you feel great.... thumb your nose at the doc... in fact... I have a HUGE nose (family feature from my dad's end of the gene pool) and you are more than welcome to thumb my nose at him!!!! As for potassium... I'd increase it.... and if you wanted to tweak your T3 a bit higher.... how much selenium are you on now? Stupid doctor, Stupid endo.... trying to get you all messed up, like they did to so many of us... shame shame shame!!!! Guest guest
I remember your story, and this statement by these two doctors STILL simply amazes me. Immagine that someone has been on Armour for 37 YEARS, they feel great, and now someone is telling them, after 37 yrs, that the thing that's made them feel so good is now going to cause them to suddenly feel bad, after ALL THIS TIME. Sheesh!!! What kind of common sense have these two got, I mean, duuhhhh, you've felt good for 37 yrs, and now someone's telling you that something should have already happened to you on acct of feeling good and being healthy? Sometimes I wonder if some of these docs aren't suffering from chemical poisoning or something. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and this is EXACTLY what I would say to these two. These are the numbers in print that make YOU feel good, holy cow. Don't do it, please don't make that change because I believe that you will regret it. Guest guest
It would be HC that needed to be optimal before taking DHEA. But yo need the sex hormones to help the whole body function and heal. Guest guest
OK I have both progesterone and testosterone cream on hand.  Last time I tried progesterone it converted to estrogen, but I'll try it again at a lower dose.I won't be able to see this doctor again for several months, she's very booked up, so I won't be able to get an estrogen for a while.  Is it a good idea to go ahead with the progesterone and testosterone creams anyway even though I won't be able to get estrogen yet? Guest guest
Estrogen and testosterone are ONLY available with a prescription. We DO have sources for script estrogen but Testosterone is a controlled substance thanks to the bodybuilders that abuse it, so for a trusted source you need to have a prescription. OTC remedies are NOT what you need.
