Dear , I can understand your fear entirely. You've come to a place where we can be supportive, be a shoulder to cry on, and hopefully, help you through this difficult time with answers that speak directly to your needs. First of all, that hole is definitely something that has been a problem for some women--not many--but it does happen and needs immediate attention. The incision can open up if there is not adequate healthy tissue in the area, primarily because the blood supply is reduced, and it does not heal well and/or becomes infected. Sometimes the skin starts to die in the area--the term for it is "necrosis", and it is something that needs immediate attention. The skin turns black and the holes will just get larger and larger if the treatment is not adequate. Getting the implant out will definitely contribute to healing. It is imperative that you eat

well and allow this area to regain a good blood supply. We have pictures of a breast with necrosis on our Shutterfly site (the password is implants). http://.shutterfly.com/action/pictures?ap= & a=67b0de21b3334f7905fc & pg=2 They are in the very 1st album (scroll down to album 1, and go to pictures 25-28. Jeena also has pictures of her necrosis under her story on Explantation.com http://www.explantation.com/ Here is part of her story (I don't want to scare you, as things will get better for you, but you need to be prepared.) MY COMPLICATIONS Unfortunately, I am one of the victims who faced complications. Had I not had Dr. Feng, I am certain my explantation would have resulted in far worse tragedy. As suspected, the tissue around my implants was not healthy. The blood supply to my left breast was compromised due to the implants and capsules. The pathology report proved it was medically necessary to have them removed, with words like "foam cell reaction" to the silicone, and "synovial metaplasia". I, indeed, was in a constant state of allergic reaction. By the time I went, 6 different physicians agreed I needed to be explanted. Because of my unhealthy breast tissue, lack of good blood supply and connective tissue disease, my left breast did not heal properly. The bandages came off and revealed severe bruising and damage. Over a 7 week period, I had to

apply acidic bandages, pulling off dead skin, and revealing new, pink skin behind it. It was painful and discouraging, but I followed the instructions completely and took the antibiotics. Everything appeared to be fine, when one day, a large scabby area on the vertical scar came off with the bandage. Within a few days, the vertical incision split open and I had a huge, cavernous hole! I had necrosis. About half of my inner fatty tissue had died. I HAD NECROSIS! I went to my local physician's office. He debrided the hole, packed it with gauze, and gave me instructions on how to pack it. I headed back to Cleveland with this painful hole in my breast. The breast had become hard, deformed and

swollen and the pain was nearly unbearable. I thought I would go back into Dr. Feng's office and have the hole sewn shut. I will never forget the words I heard. I can't quote everything, because I was crying so hard and it is almost a blur. I heard words like "possible mastectomy, infection, necrosis, reconstruction, surgery." I thank the Lord everyday that I had Dr. Feng as my Doctor, because her kind compassion, honesty, gentleness, and expertise were a great comfort to me. I often wonder what I would have done, had I gone to the wrong surgeon. Within 2 days, I was back in surgery and expected to come out with no breast. Dr. Feng was able to save much more of my breast than she expected, and did a phenomenol job saving all the tissue possible. No doubt, I will return to Dr. Feng next summer for more revision or reconstruction. More decisions will be made at that time. But in the meantime, I have fought infection and won. My breast is much smaller and the grief I have gone through is like mourning a death. My right breast is nearly perfect, for which I am grateful. I wish so much I had gone to her many years sooner! I can now see that my first surgeon was so very wrong about needing implants to look nice. I feel so betrayed. I lost 12 productive years of my life. Second, , the MS like symptoms are VERY COMMON. I thought I had MS when I first got sick too, yet blood tests do not reveal true MS. Women sick from implants often get frightening neurological symptoms that are unexplained. Not to dissuade you, but a neurologist is not going to be much help. In fact, most

rheumatologists, endocrinologist, neurologists and any other ologist is not going to know how to treat you if you are sick from implants. Their speciality is giving out drugs to reduce symptoms. That is not how we get better. We get better through detoxification and healthy lifestyles. Taking their drugs can actually prevent healing in the long term, so you have to be very careful about who you seek for treatment. How long you have had implants? You mentioned you have been having symptoms for the last 6 months, so I am assuming you've had them at least that long, but did the symptoms start right away? Please--no matter what you do, if you are already showing signs of illness with your implants, it is imperative that you have the implants taken out correctly! I know it is convenient to go back to the one who put them in, but often these doctors are careless about proper removal of implants. They

will just pop them out of your body and sew you back up. But the correct way to remove implants is to get a total capsulectomy ALSO. That means they remove the scar tissue that surrounds the implant as well. This is a must if you are already sick. Those capsules can continue to elicit an immune response from your body even if the implants are gone, so they need to GO. I've been explanted for 9 and a half years. It took me 4 years to get better, after having implants for only 9 months. All of my neurological symptoms are gone. The only thing I was left with, thanks to implants, was an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and the treatment is simply replacement thyroid hormone. I can live with that! I have a wonderful, normal life again, but I was desperately ill for several years from my implants. I eschewed the crazy doctors and their crazy pills and got better through treatment

with naturopathics. We've learned here on this group that it is the way to go. I know this is a frightening time, and a frightening experience. You'll find that all of on this group lament the day that we got implants. It was the biggest and most dreadful mistake of our lives. But there is hope...you've come to the right place. We know the way to healing, and we will help you as much as we can. By the way, there is an excellent plastic surgeon who removes implants correctly in Dallas, by the name of Dr. Melmed. You'd do very well to see him. Let us know what you need! We'll be here! Patty <jessjimenez@...> wrote: Hello I am new here and have been having problems with my saline implants. How long have you had your implants? I can't believe your incision is open!

Many of the women on this board have experienced the MS symptoms. They have been to neurologists, rheumatologists, endocrinologists, etc. and many times they aren't diagnosed with anything. The doctor's can't figure out what is causing the symptoms. Most doctor's won't admit to implant illness. But there are too many of us who are sick with these "mystery illnesses" for me to believe there isn't a correlation!

Please read the files on the board. I myself have/had auto-immune issues. Doctor's thought it was Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, but couldn't pinpoint a specific illness. I had brain fog, memory loss, muscles spasms/weakness, joint pain and many other issues. When this started I was only 34. I am was a very active, in-shape individual too!! My health went from good to horrible about 8 months ago - it was a quick decline once it started. Felt like I was 80 years old!

I have been explanted 4 months ago. I am feeling better by the week.

I think you need to get the implants out ASAP!! You need to go to a doctor who will remove them properly - capsulectomy or En Bloc. It isn't a quick surgery... There is a list of recommended doctor's in the files here.

The other women on this board will also offer you helpful advice. I am sorry you are going through this - - I can relate and it is horrible. I too wish I would have never been so vain to get fake boobs! But I have to remind myself that I was lied to - told they were SAFE!!

Hugs, Lynn

MS Like Symptoms etc...

Welcome Breast implant problems can mimic a host of horrible health problems. Most likely, once they are properly removed (en bloc), and you have had time to detox as well as follow a healthy diet, the symptoms will disappear. However, what is happening is very serious. It needs to be addressed ASAP - and addressed correctly. Most doctors will tell you that you will be deformed if you have your implants removed without replacing them - that the capsules will be absorbed and that implants can't make you sick - that it must be something else. . . . All this is wrong. The capsules must be removed and you should look very good post-implant, and, if you're like most of the women, you will be elated to have the implants gone so you can feel whole again. You may have to go to another doctor if your doctor gives you the line most doctors give their patients! It will

cost money, but your life is worth it! Please read through our files and messages. You'll see instance after instance where a woman got sick after getting implants - and is well (within certain bounds) after having them removed. We can't promise you that you will ever be as healthy as you were before implants. Your body has taken a terrible blow. . . But, if you jealously guard your health by eating right, exercising, avoiding stress, getting sufficient sleep, etc., you should feel like yourself again. Hugs and prayers, Rogene

Hi ,

I had MS like symptoms while I had implants. I only had mine for

six months, but within a week or so I was having strange health

problems that I never had before.

The black implant and the puss are definitely alarming, and probably

are to blame for the problems you're having. I wonder if the

incision is opening because the infected implants are expanding?

Anyway, please make sure to have them removed by someone who

believes in implant illness, or at least is willing to remove the

implants using the en bloc procedure, removing the entire capsule,

and using drains. I don't know how far you are from Atlanta, but

Dr. Kolb knows alot about implant illness, especially when it comes

to toxins (from infected implants).

Hiya's and thank you for the info...I'm really scared and thinking I

should call the airport and have my flight changed if it doesn't cost

an arm and a leg. Never heard of the En BLock Procedure but I will

look it up and talk to my DR in Texas about it.

Thank you again,

I've had them for about 2 years now, and I had a problem once where

it got really hard (was told that was how my body was responding to

it) was put on antibiotics then came in for a removal/replacement.

After that it hardened again and I was told that sometimes thats just

how the body responds to it but nothing was wrong. Yet the one on

the left side is fine (or at least it looks/feels fine). I am also

going to definately report my problems to the FDA and look into an

attorney in my area. I don't have insurance and haven't been working

for the last year cuz of my symptoms, they started out slow then

rapidly started getting worse. I just want to go back to Texas and

get them out...it's so scary having an open scar and not being able

to do anything about it.

Thank you for your response!

Wow...I wish there were pamphlets or something to reach out to all

the females in the world with this information...If I would've known

any of this I would have never done it.

I have had them for about 2 years. I had difficulties about...maybe

a year, the right side (same one now giving me problems) got rock

hard and I was told that sometimes that is how our bodies adapt to

implants and it would be ok...but he put me on antibiotics and

removed/replaced the implant. And again it hardened and again he

said it would be ok.

If I didn't have an opening I would look into other drs but it's open

and it's freaking me out...I want to go get it looked at/removed

asap, doesn't seem right having an OPEN scar. Might sound stupid but

what if it gets bigger, what if my implant comes out...if ya can't

tell im totally freaked out right now.

I live near Beaumont TX so if ya'll know of anyone in that area, or

Houston...that is alot closer than Dallas. But I get back to TX on

Sat. and I'm going to my dr. first thing monday morning.

Thanks for the info and I hope it doesn't get worse before I can get

to my dr. :(

I am anxious to see what your doctor says about what is going on with you.

I am happy you found us too ! No one fully understands the complexity of all this unless they have gone thru it, or is very close to one that is or has. It is very scarey ! Unlike the reports that the media tell and what general public hear, there are tousands of people with serious problems due to implants. There are many women here that have found ways to get much better and have a life again.......there is so much support with these gals, and so much information to learn. Please stay close, we will help you thru all this........

Thank you all for your comments/suggestions. I'm still pretty scared

about this and I emailed my dr in TX a picture and explanation of

whats going on and then I called them to make sure they got it. The

lady is going to call me back as soon as my Dr. has had a chance to

look at it. I'm just worried about having an open wound for 4 more

days. I will also see how much he knows about the En Bloc or

capsulectomy.

Thank you again! So glad I found this place, you are all very nice

and helpful!

, The open wound should be okay as long as you are keeping it cleaned and sterilized as much as possible. If you can control the infection, you should be okay. What I worry about is the possibility of a reduced blood supply and loss of tissue as it dies. Your doctor should be able to address that immediately upon your return to Texas. In Houston, there are several explanting doctors on our list, though our experience with them is less frequent than with Dr. Melmed. Here is the list of Texas Doctors. Most are in Dallas, but there are several in Houston too. TEXAS DR. Comment from one of our ladies: "My explant doctor was Dr. Shujaat Khan ten years ago. . . I think he did a good job of explanting me. However, when I tried discussing the implant situation with him, he became very

angry! At that time he was adament that breast implants don't cause health problems. The problem was the attorneys. . . .Also, his office did not inform me that my insurance would not cover my surgery until the day before the surgery. He was considerably more expensive and the surgical center he uses for explant really sticks it to you without telling you in advance what the charges will be.You may want to question him thoroughly." He has a clinical practice at

Baylor University Medical Center & Zale Lipshy University Medical

Center at Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Rohrich's Baylor Office is much more organized and easier to work with, than his Zale Lipshy Office. Dr. Rohrich 'knows' there are, indeed, problems with breast implants, and does not try to talk you into replacing

implants. He was a significant researcher & inventor of the trilucent implants. He has a very impressive CV. He also has a wife, Dianne Gibby, a plastic surgeon in private practice at Medical City Dallas, and none of us would care to use her, for several reasons. I must also tell you that Dr. Rohrich has been on retainer with Dow for several years now; which simply means you should be careful about information you report to him, and tests you have him run. I always had my PCP do all my blood work, and simply took lab copies to Dr. Rohrich, and Dr. Rohrich does not know that I know this. My experience &

outcome with Dr. Rohrich was great --- I just was not too comfortable finding out about his association with Dow, although it has never affected me! MAM-NSIF@... DR. ROLAND WOLF, 1100 - 19th St., Abilene,

I am so sorry to hear that you are having these

problems with your implants. I am 29 too and am in the

process of planning my explant. Did you just recently

have your implants replaced?? Was the incision still

healing? From what you have told us about the problems

with the hardening and replacements, it sounds like

your body is rejecting the implants, or at least one

of them. I hope you can find a surgeon who is

understanding that can help you out soon!! This must

be very frightening for you! You're in my prayers!

Hi Katy...I have had them for about 2 years and I've had the

hardening pretty much the whole time. It's been at least a year

since I had the replacement so my scar was healed, don't know why all

of a sudden it's open now (about nickel sized opening). When I first

went back because of the hardening, my dr did a capsulectomy on the

right side, the left side seems fine. After the capsulectomy it

hardened again and that is what he had mentioned also that my body is

rejecting it but I don't understand how it's only doing that to ONE

SIDE?! I emailed my dr. with what is going on right now and sent a

picture of the opening and they are going to see me first thing

monday and he reassured me as long as im on antibiotics and keep it

covered with guaze that I will be fine. That was a little reassuring

but I'm still freaked out. The nurse mentioned paying him for the

surgery and I was like um...I don't think so, I haven't been able to

work because of these problems and don't have the money. She called

me back later and said the Dr. isn't worried about payment he just

wants me to get better. So hopefully things will go well, he sounds

like he is concerned and wanting to help me out. I am also going to

do whatever I can to make sure women everywhere know about all these

complications and it's not worth it to get ANYTHING done to our

bodies. I wish I would've known more about complications with

implants before I did this to myself. All I knew was that silicon is

bad saline is perfectly safe...I was obviously misinformed.

Thank you for the info and prayers!

, I'd bet the doctor didn't remove the capsules the first time - so whatever contaminants that caused you to get hard the first time were there the second time. . . Be sure the doctor understand that the capsules MUST be removed - and drains used to remove any contaminanted fluid that may accumulate after surgery. Hi , The reason that this could be happening on only one side could have to do with the amount of blood that is getting to the tissue. Perhaps there is a constriction of some blood vessels more on the one side than the other. In that case, the tissue would not be getting the nutrients it needs and can suffer, leading to your condition and even death of the tissue in some cases. Jeena's story discussed that happening to her. In any case, hopefully your doctor will be good about taking care of you. We all wish we could have had a crystal ball to see into the future, because none of us would have signed up for this misery had we known it could happen to us! Please keep us posted about how you are doing! I can't

believe what you have been through in such a short

time with implants. I hope you will do much better

once they are out for good. How is the wound doing now

that you have been on the antibiotics? You sound so

brave considering what is going on.

Hey! Well I had my surgery monday, the weird thing was I was awake

the whole time, just had local anesthesia. The dr went ahead and

removed both implants, did capsulectomy and put a drain on the right

side (the bad one). I went back today so he could check on me and he

removed the drain. On my right side I developed I guess diaper rash?

After surgery I was told to put a pad(kotex) under breast so it could

soak up anything from drain. Well the right side looks pretty gross

and he says it's a diaper rash?? Gave me some more medicine for that

and says my wound will close on it's own?! The left side is fine (at

least i think / hope it is). I still have an opening (where drain

was) on the right side and I find that really weird, but I asked him

and the nurse several times are you sure it's ok leaving it OPEN?! and

they both said it will close up on it's own that I just need to keep

it clean and VERY dry (hard to do now that i have no implants in and

my boobs kinda sag and touch the skin under it lol and it's VERY hot

in Texas). So I've got guaze there now and just keep changing it,

been laying on my couch with my shirt up so i can keep air blowing on

it to keep it dry. I also got a copy of my records today (minus

monday's info which they say they will mail to me). I go back for

another check up on Monday.

Hopefully this will all clear up and I can continue on my path to get

healthy again!

On a positive note, I did convince my neighbor and a friend to NEVER

get implants. My neighbor was talking to me about wanting to do it and

I told her my situation and mentioned how so many other women have

similar or worse problems and she's decided she wont do it!

Thanks for being here gals! It really helps!!!

Hi ,

Please watch your breast for signs of infection. I'm just recovering

from a second emergency surgery from infection after explant. I don't

want to scare you but I just want you to be careful.

After the drain is removed there is a hole but it'll close up within

24 hours. Just don't shower during this time.

Hugs & hope,

Traci from Canada

Oh my heavens....I hope it will clear up also. It seems wierd about the surgery and being awake the whole time. I don't know that I've ever heard of anyone having a capsulectomy while under local anesthesia....did you see the actual capsules? Diaper rash is a yeast infection. It's candida, I believe, which is something many of us have dealt with on a systemic level. You might want to confirm with him exactly what he means by diaper rash. I mean, obviously, your boobs don't pee, and you aren't wearing diapers around your boobs, so what causes this "diaper rash"? I am so surprised at what some doctors will tell women. Well, thank God those implants are gone, and you can get better! Please keep us posted on the healing of the tissue. Does everything look good as far as your tissue goes? You haven't lost any? Were your

boobs saggy before, or are they more saggy after getting the implants out? The doctor should have addressed this with you, if it is a concern. Let us know. We just want you better! Well the right side looks pretty grossand he says it's a diaper rash?? Gave me some more medicine for thatand says my wound will close on it's own?! The left side is fine (atleast i think / hope it is). I still have an opening (where drainwas) on the right side and I find that really weird, but I asked himand the nurse several times are you sure it's ok leaving it OPEN?! andthey both said it will close up on it's own that I just need to keepit clean and VERY dry (hard to do now that i have no implants in andmy boobs kinda sag and touch the skin under it lol and it's VERY hotin Texas). So I've got guaze there now and just keep changing it,been laying on my couch

with my shirt up so i can keep air blowing onit to keep it dry. I also got a copy of my records today (minusmonday's info which they say they will mail to me). I go back foranother check up on Monday.Hopefully this will all clear up and I can continue on my path to gethealthy again! On a positive note, I did convince my neighbor and a friend to NEVERget implants. My neighbor was talking to me about wanting to do it andI told her my situation and mentioned how so many other women havesimilar or worse problems and she's decided she wont do it!Thanks for being here gals! The deception was totally WRONG ! but the flip side, you didnt worry, so you probably healed quicker..........Abcesses can potentially be very dangerous ! I would not trust this doctor any longer.

Many Doctors no longer practice medicine, they practice deceit and drug pushing. That is what keeps people returning for fee for service. Money and greed is their lifeline.

The few good doctors ........bless them! ! !

Dearest ?

Welcome to this wonderful group of women. This is something that I have never heard of. We are happy that you have been explanted, and it sounds like you must be able to take a lot of pain. I have respiratory problems, and cannot have an anesthetic, so you have given me hope. My doctor told me that they could do an epidural to remove the mass in my right breast.

Honey, were your implants under the muscle? I have not read your story, but I would love to hear more about your surgery. Thank you for helping to educate your friends on the dangers of breast implants. Please get plenty of rest.

Stay close, love always...Lea

It is so nice to compare notes with everyone, we find alot of

home remadies and share information that is priceless !

Doctors should have to be on sites like these so they

can learn the difference in what is real and what is

not...
