It is all about hierarchies and lineages, which are not in themselves bad things in some situations but in an " anonymous " and " spiritual " context it is a bit odd. I actually used to think like that myself though. One of the functions it serves is to assist people with a poor self-concept and it tells them that they " are somebody " because of who they are connected to, or, dare I say it- " descended from " ! I eventually realised, somewhat belatedly, that the people I thought were " somebody " were really not that special. Joe B.

Guest guest
My definition of a " grand sponsor " is an attractive member of the opposite sex who volunteers to help you work the 13th Step.
Guest guest
You got it. Sponsor's sponsor. ... and I've seen it where they are called Grand Babies in reverse. But it's even more than bio parentage, as the sponsor often asks His sponsor what to do with the grand baby. The Grand Sponsor, in some situations, is actually pulling the strings on a person's life from a distance; with clancy this is very liekly, and I'm sure he even has Great Grand babies. Hey guys, If the world only knew!!! If the world out there only knew what went on in AA, it would wake up and go ... WhAAAAAAt! Time to put a lid on this crap. Also, sometimes it's seen as being presumptuous to talk Directly to your grand sponsor, (your not spiritual enough) and at picnics I've heard people talk about a whole gathering formed around a sponsor " All her babies were there and my babies and even grand babies ... " These generatione tend to sit next to each other and hang together, even though some grand babies may be much older than the baby. Talk about crazy. -G. Guest guest
Where I went to college, the fraternities & sororities did the same thing - instead of sponsor/sponsee, it was Big/Little/GrandBig/GrandLittle, etc, etc. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
