I'd already been labeled severely permanently disabled through the Oregon State Voc Rehab. I sent in the forms, my Doctors were all contacted and filled out forms, Voc Rehab was also and I went to their doctors. I was approved, but finding out that's rare. It takes along time, it's alot of paperwork and stress just going through the process. Be patient, truthful and keep thinking positive thoughts. ~Rhea My E-mails are a natural hand made product. The Social Security office called me ONE time, I told him I couldn't talk to him and to call the number he had. I filed in September, 2006 and after several doctor visits, nonsense about follow-up appointments that got cancelled, back x-rays scheduled then cancelled, I finally got a letter (which I was afraid to open!) but they determined that I had been totally disabled the last day I worked in Nov, 2004 and paid me back to Sept. 2005. And the company is limited by federal regulations as to how much they can charge you. Let me know and I will give you their name and you can pull up the website. They are in Illinois but do this for people all over the company --- I thought they were worth every penny (and because the lump sum check included the month I got the letter, they didn't charge the full amount that they legally could have!) I too got a lump some payment, I did it myself (I didn't know about companies that would do it for you) and I got all of the money. Because they determined that I had been disabled the last day I worked in November, 2004 but did not file until September of 2006, I received a lump sum for the year prior to the date I first filed. Therefore, I received payment for 4 months of 2005, all of 2006 and 2 months in 2007. And because there had been cost of living raises in 2005 and 2006, I received those few dollars more.
