Hi, I am new to this group and I wanted to introduce myself. My name

is Joy and I had been diagnosed with Fibro in the fall of 2003.

Like many, it took many doctors and 2 years to get the correct

diagnosis. The first rheumatologist I saw treated the pain with

Advil. I felt he was just taking my money so I searched for one that

took me serious and she has helped me tremendously. I started

seeing her in the Spring of 2004 and it took another 2 years to get

me back on track. I am now functioning again and able to work with

a lot less pain. I still have my fibro days but they are less then

they were before.

I have 5 kids and a wonderful husband who has supported and believed

in my pain from day 1. He has driven me back and forth to my

doctors appointments without complaint and has been a strength to me

when I have given up, always pushing me to find an answer. Without

him and my faith I might not be at this point of my life where I am

functioning again.

I would like to say to all of you that are still searching for an

answer or a good doctor. Do not give up. When searching for a good

doctor, ask questions before the appointment. Before I saw my

doctor, I asked if she recognized Fibro and if she knew how to treat

it. I was not afraid to ask. She keeps up with the latest research

and is not afraid to try new things to better treat her patients.

I am happy to find this group and look forward to sharing, laughing

and crying with everyone of you.

Welcome, Joy. I am relatively new here myself. Have had Fibro for 20

years, but lost my business, house, and everything else before it was

finally diagnosed. I now have a good doctor, and go back in two weeks

to see what the treatment will be. This group has been a Godsend to

me! I can't work anymore, and am in the process of waiting for SSD,

living for the most part on charity, but living, nonetheless!

Again, welcome. Joan
