I'm e, 38 from Atlanta I have been type 2 now for about 7

years. I have never taken anything for it and tried to do it by diet

and exercise but its not working I guess. My doc has given me

glucophage 500 mg. once a day I am afraid to take it because of side

effects and afraid of my bg getting to low. I mean I amscared to the point of

not taking it even though I know I should. I am VERY med phobic and if theres

side effects I am sure to get them. I also have ibs so I m worried how it will

effect my stomach since i've heard glucophage can cause stomach upsets? Can

anyone give me any

advice about this medicine.

Hi Aideen,

I find that one of the best ways to help me rebound from lack of sleep

and to ease flare ups is to set a routine for myself. I always wake

up at 6am and start my day. I always make sure that I am in bed no

later than 11:30pm. For the nights that I am not tired I have a

special CD, I call it my sleep CD because I always listen to it when I

am going to sleep. I turn my player/alarm clock on so that it will

repeat the CD and then I hit sleep timer for 59 minutes. It helps to

turn the volume down so that once you are asleep it won't wake you up

again. This has helped me to keep my body in cycle most of the time.

I do have to admit though that there are some nights that I get a

couple of hours of sleep and I just push through that day. If I need

to take a little extra medication for the day then I am alright with

that. (This isn't 100% though either.)

Aideen,

I actually take my anti depressant at night and also 2 types of sleep meds, one

prescription, Mogadon and the other non prescription Dozile..

I also use relaxation music and lavendar essential oil in the oil burner before

I go to sleep..

I know drugs are not the answer, but that is the only way I can cope, I suffer

from chronic insomnia..

I have these nights, like last night, where I am asleep but still aware of what

is going on around me, I wake up regularly through the night even with the

medication, the anti depressant is a drowsy one, I wake about 7 times a night...

I find I sleep best if I go to bed about 2 am and get up between 9 and 10.30

am..

I find I get the most refreshing sleep that way..

I am on disability and dont work, so my sleeping times dont really fit in with

the real world but it works for me so I stick to that...

I am sorry to hear you have sleep issues, it is no fun..

Hugs and Healing

Hi

Hi, I'm Aideen and I've just been diagnosed w/Fibromyalgia. With

what I've learned recently, I've probably have had it for atleast 4.5

to 5 years now. But, I always attributed the pains to doing too

much, the sleeplessness to daily stresses, etc. But now, I'm trying

to get a handle on this disease/syndrome because I have to go back to

work the middle of August (I work w/little kids who have special

needs). I need to be " Fog-free "

I've been lurking on the board here and I've learned so much from all

of you and for that, Thank You. It reminds me that this is not in my

head and there are and will be some days that are worse than others.

I have a substantial (in my opinion anyway) problem. It's sleeping.

Most days I'm awake and up at 2:30 or 3:00. If I sleep past 5 a.m.

I'm thrilled. Some days it's ok, but when I have a day like today,

it's not ok because I'm in a fog and it drives me crazy and I'm not

productive.

My question to you is, could you give me some suggestions on how you

manage to sleep? I've tried ambien and woke up twice with a migrane,

so that's pretty much out of the question. I've tried yoga

breathing, but my mind races so much that I cant get back to sleep.

I'm very frustrated!

Thank you in advance for your responses.
