Guest guest
Sure honey! I say, take deep breaths, relax a bit, make sure you have all your necessary items together for your hosp. stay, and be sure to have the things needed when you return home for a smooth recovery. Arrange rides to/from hosp., and have someone keep us posted on your cross over. Sending you big hugs, will see you on the other side sweetie! Hang in there! Guest guest
Rayna, Fluid is given to everyone while having surgery, just to keep the body hydrated to the max. It's the safest way to go, to prevent the organs from drying up! You lose it within a week, sometimes even sooner if you're a " pee-er " like me. Don't worry honey, it's just precautionary measurements that need to be taken! PS. Dr. Randall doesn't use terms such as " stage 3 " etc...If you follow the guidelines given by him and , you'll be fine! Dawn Re: surgery DEAR MARCIA I AM HAVING THE SURGERY ON NOV 20. Guest guest
I know it is important to get the right balance of goodies in your diet, but I think the first hurdle (at least after the jaw surgery, and maybe after the SARPE, too) is just to get yourself psyched enough to care about downing ANYTHING. Then you can refine it from there. C. > > > > > , > > > > I have to disagree with you here. Guest guest
ok kids, since I am the oldest one here, I can be the referee... does anyone agree on nutrition issues?? I think no one. protein, shmotein, just staying alive that first week is what counts. and you do that mostly by downing clear liquids... your body can catch up on protein later... I will say one thing, however, I think it's extremely important to go into surgery with a very high hemoglobin count (lots of red blood cells, lots of iron, from eating lots of red meat (the best source of protein imho)... I don't eat a huge amount of red meat but for a solid week before my surgery, my husband insisted I eat steak, steak, and more steak with a little prime rib thrown in for variety... I scarfed it down and because of that, I got by on mostly clear liquids that first week... Believe me, as soon as your able to get any real food down, you can toss all the canned crap out the window...your body will thank you. > > > > > > > > > , > > > > > > > > I have to disagree with you here. Guest guest
I'm dubious about your assumption, but if you're eager for the title, I'll happily cede the honor, ... I do indeed agree, completely. Also that if you can find the time for regular exercise as preparation, it is a good thing. I like liver -- and that works, too. But only if you like it enough to enjoy eating it would I advise it in the weeks before surgery. > > > > > > > > > > > , > > > > > > > > > > I have to disagree with you here. Guest guest
It is very important that you tell the anesthesiologist that you are on HC and how much you take. They will take care of it. I know from others on the list having surgery and being in your same situation that it works out fine. They won't question who gave it to you, you don't have to say anything about that. Just list the medicines you take including the Armour and HC and tell the anesthesia person who is putting you under. I had a hyst a few years ago and it improved my life dramatically! I wish the same for you!! My doctor told me I wouldn't believe how good I was going to feel once I recovered from the surgery, and she was right. Guest guest
>>I'm concerned about my upcoming partial hysterectomy in Oct. due to large fibroids. How do i dose my Armour and HC? << I would take AM dosing of Armou rand HC the same as usual. Ask the anesthesiologist to put Medrol in your IV as oyu have adrenal insufficiency. They will gladly do it and nto question it one bit. It will be enough to carry you through the entire day of surgery and start regular HC dosing back up the next day. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
Don't ever let them tell you they " don't have " your particular medicine. They can GET it. If they need to, they can send a messenger out to a local pharmacy. I've seen it done if a doctor insists on something. Shoot, I even knew of one time a maintenance man was sent in a hospital truck to buy TAMPONS from a Rite Aid!!! If need be, become a somewhat vocal advocate (read " bitch " ) and insist on the doctor ordering Armour for you and getting it. Don't worry about being a difficult patient, those are the ones who are the long term survivors. It is dangerous to take your own medicine when in the hospital. They might be giving you something that reacts badly with what they don't know you are taking on the sly. It's a very bad thing to do. It's best to be up front and tell them what you take. wrote: > > > > My last 2 times in hospital I took my own case the time before they > didn't have Armour which I was on then, and wanted to give me SYncrap! > So I take my own and put them in my purse and don;t even mention it to > them. > >
