Welcome to our List . I am glad you chose this one because it is the best list for support any where. Post as often as you like and ask questions too. It will be good to get to know someone who has so much Atkins experience under her belt. I am 46 years old also and it has been a real catalyst in making me lose very slowly, I'm afraid. But at least I'm not gaining! Cheryl Ü

Hi I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is and I'm 46years old and recently married. I was following Atkins WOE for 3 years and then last year I let all those negative thoughts about this WOE get to me and stopped. Well you know what happened. So now I am back and I just started yesterday and I already feel better. I am here to stay and would like a little support. Thanks

I just got Jan's post, at 6:25....after reading posts welcoming Jane and

all...i was wondering what i was missing as i never saw her initial

post...this is the worse case i've had yet of getting posts so much later

than replies to the actual post! anyone else having this problem? At any

rate, ((((((((Jan))))))) welcome to such a great list, as you've already seen

this group of people are great; full of support, encouragement and help of

all kinds! Great job on getting your health in order! : )

Jan,

Welcome! And thanks for such encouraging news. That is exactly

my goal. My primary physician and cardiologist also recommended this

diet for me. I hope my stats are close to yours in a year.

Hi everyone,

My name is Jan and I have been low carbing since October 99.

The Atkins

Diet was recommended to me by my cardiologist and after my questioning

it

(having heard all the bad press) he told me it "is a good diet".

I have

lost 41 lbs and have gone from a size 18 (a bit too loose, but

16 too tight)

to a size 10-12. I have reduced my triglycerides from 557

to 81 (as of last

April) and lowered my ldl and raised the hdl considerably.

I am a 60 year

old grandma. I had congestive heart failure in 1996 and the

heart meds

aided in my weight gain. I was facing a heart transplant

in my future. My

heart is normal now and I am healthy as a horse. I have not

caught any bug

that has been out there since starting Atkins. I am no longer

taking any

medications at all. I have learned to take control of my

health by diet,

exercise and knowledge.

I have been lurking here for a couple of weeks and really do enjoy

reading

all the posts on this list. You are a friendly, supportive

bunch of folks

and I will read this every day, gleaning all information I can.

Support is

very important to me and I hope I can contribute as well.

Welcome, Jan. You will be happy to know that there is

someone on this list older than you. I will be sixty

seven in March. Most of the people on this list seem

younger, and I love them all. Most of my friends are

around forty. I just have to remember how old I am.

'This is a super group.

I'm 49, Jan and Grandma, so I'm not that young either.

Been doing Atkins for 1-1/2 years. Went from 266 to 208, then stopped losing about 2 months ago. I'm not cheating, just low-carbing, and supposed someday the weight will start to come off again. Oh well.

Hi, Sue! Welcome! I remember you . . . do you still quilt? Was your last

child a little boy or girl?

I'm glad you joined us. I remember how well you lost weight before and how

excited and happy all your postings were. You'll remember lots of names

from that old list . . . you'll see several of the old cuy listers here on

this list, including the irrespressible Robin (Vance) Purtee. She's a

respectable married lady these days and has managed to overcome her previous

addiction to Krispy Kreme donuts.

Let us know how we can help!

I only had a minute before so had to send a quick note. I had a baby boy

last July and he's a doll. He's 6 months old now and we are all having a

ball with our little bonus baby. For those who don't know me, I have 4

other children, ages 14, 12, 9 and 7, we homeschool, I quilt, I do a lot

of cooking and baking for my clan, they love to try new recipes.

I started bodyflex this morning along with Atkins, so we'll see how

things go. We are going on a big family vacation with my dh's family this

summer, I hope to have made a good dent in this weight by then. During

the last one 2 years I ago I actually sunbathed in a 2 piece bathing

suit! I won't be that far along this time, but if I can feel good in

shorts/sundresses I'll have done great.

I'm looking forward to being an encouragement to others and gleaning from

the wisdom of all you who've been doing the WOE during this time I've

been playing hookey!

Hey Robin! come out, come out wherever you are! LOL

It's Sue!!!!!!!!! I am SO happy to see you!! I was reading a post sent by Terry (out of order because not all my mail had downloaded) and I spied where she said SUE and QUILT in the same sentence. I got SO excited!!! Just the other day I was trying to remember your whole address.....SuzyHomeaker@... I couldn't remember it all. Or SuzyQuilt4u? I wanted to write to you. Anyway, I'm really, really glad to see you. And congratulations on the baby. I remember that you said you had been thinking about another one!

hahaha, yup, it's me! Back to the beginning but for a worthy cause, the

baby was definitely worth it. This is the earliest I've ever gotten to

getting the weight off, so I guess I'm still ahead of the game. Today

went well, though evening is usually the tough time. I have a big

container of almonds waiting for me just in case. I've been thinking

about you, too, wondering if you'd stuck to the Atkins way and how you

were doing. You were close on the addy...it's suzyhmkr@... or

suzy@.... I used to have SuzyQuilt4u showing instead of my

name. I'm really hoping to make this work and get the weight off, I have

a closet full of great clothes, plus some stuff I bought early in the

pregnancy (t-shirt dresses both long and short) that I would love to be

wearing this summer on our vacation. I've only got 5 months so am going

to really have to be a good girl to make a dent by then! In a way I'm

kicking myself, I thought for sure that I would be able to get right back

to it after the baby, I guess I just forgot about those raging hormones!

Sure is good to be back though. Here we go!

Well, I gained ALL my weight back, too. Got married and Mike loves for me to cook for him and EAT with him. He doesn't really mind if I low carb, though. I got 12 pounds off in January, but just had some major dental work done, can't swallow much and haven't been doing my water, PLUS I have been living on pudding and stuff. My mouth is much, much better now, and I'm back at it tomorrow. I do think that I put my 12 pounds back on, though. So, I'm starting at about 230. I will know tomorrow. What is your starting weight?

This is part of my problem, too, the family loves for me to cook and

bake, the only one with a weight problem is me. I have to get really

disciplined to get started, though last time it was quite easy to stick

to it. I had people noticing my weight loss when I'd only lost 6 pounds

which I thought was totally amazing. I'm starting out at 220. I'm

hoping to start walking as soon as we get decent weather, putting

Lucas in his stroller (I got a jogger this time) and off we'll go. I'm

really trying to get in the right frame of mind, part of me wants to keep

eating all the goodies. Yikes. I'm glad to find a list again for

accountability!

Bloating isn't a regular occurence when starting Atkins Shirley.

Are there any foods that you are eating now that you weren't before you

started Atkins? I have food intolerances and bloat - before I realized that

soy was a problem for me, I was using soy protein powder and was bloated all

to heck. How about hormonal changes - are you approaching you time of

month?

How about sending us what you ate yesterday (EVERYTHING that passed through

your lips with amounts) and we can take a peek and see if there are any

known trouble areas.
