Guest guest
Hey All My syrinx is in the cervical spine and the thoracic spine. Drs. need to learn that its not just in the cervical spine. When my original brain and partial cerv. spine MRI was taken there was no syrinx shown in the area. my doc then ordered a full spine mri due to my burning. Conclusions were I had a syrinx from C5-7 and I'm not sure where my Thoracic one is exactly Fight for this MRI tooth and nail Wishing much luck and love to all michelle in MA ACM/SM Surg. 12-20-
Guest guest
To those with a syrinx, where is it located? My neuro refuses to do a full spinal MRI because the portion of my spine visible in the head scans looks free of a syrinx, and he said if there is going to be one it will always show up in the cervical spine first. Is this generally the case? Best, Emma
Guest guest
Please respond to the group on Emma's questsion? I have an apptmt with my neurologist on Thursday (2 days) and know I am going to have the same battle. I keep wondering if it is possible to have a thoracic syrinx, causing the burning on the spine in between the shoulder blades, the numb two last fingers on each hand and the band of numbness across the midback, the....etc etc etc. Just a pinched nerve, or possibly more? thanks Joanne > To those with a syrinx, where is it located? > > My neuro refuses to do a full spinal MRI because the portion of my > spine visible in the head scans looks free of a syrinx, and he said > if there is going to be one it will always show up in the cervical > spine first. Guest guest
My daughter's syrinx is in the thoracic spine (T5-T7). Her cervical MRI went just low enough to show a slight portion of the syrinx in the top of what would be the thoracic area of the spine. I don't understand why some doctors say that a syrinx can only occur in the cervical part of the spinal column. It's just not true. I'd press your doctor to have a full-spine MRI.
