Guest guest
Okay, I'm really not trying to bash doctors here, but I have to share my recent experience I had with a neurologist simply to get it off my chest. It was really a frustrating experience for me! I happened to be 15 minutes late for the appt because nobody told me I had to come in 15 minutes early. And on top of that, the office had moved, which nobody told me about either. He would not let me live this down for about the first 5 minutes when he finally saw me. This really got me boiled because after all, I had to wait two months to see this doctor & they wouldn't even try to get me in earlier when I called to tell them I was having real difficulties swallowing & weakness in my legs. I wasn't expecting an appt the next day, but they could've tried something. Gee, sorry I'm such an inconvience. Then, when I was describing the recent difficulties I've been having with walking up stairs & doing laundry (I live on the 2nd floor of an apt building). He said, " well, that's an easy one, when's your lease up? " Yeah, right, like he's going to pay for me to move & what about all the other activities we do which require extensive use of our legs. I could've figured that one out myself & didn't have to pay him to tell me that! Also, (sorry I'm not done yet) during the exam when he had me walk from one end of the room to the other, he told me to walk faster. Yeah right, I would if I could! And what about the conversation we had earlier in the visit?! Well, I won't be going back to see somebody who's more concerned about how many patients they can pile into one day's schedule, instead of caring about how they really feel. Again, please nobody take an offense to this, I'm not trying to say he's not a good doctor. Our personalities could've clashed or I could be biased after seeing so many doctors that really don't know much about chiari. He didn't either, so maybe that's what brewed me up even more. I just had to talk about this with all of you to help me feel better. I appreciate all of you lending your ears (alright in this case, your eyes). I hope all of you are having better experiences with doctor visits. Boy, they really can be frustrating sometimes! Take care, in OH
