If I were you I would start with a slaiva 4 times in a day cortisol

test. You can order your own through www.canaryclub.org it is an

dexcellent way to begin and really know what is going on wiht adrenals

as the cortisol rythym is just a important as how much you are making.

DHEA does not convert to cortisol. DHEA converts to sex hormones! But if

you are low in cortisl your DHEA can also become depleted as the body

will use it to carry the metabolic load in place of the cortisol your

adrenals can no longer make. The Synthetic T4 T3 combo is much better

than T4 alone, but Armour thyroid is better yet, but NO thyoroid meds

will be accepted into a body that is low in cortisl, and you will never

be able to take enough to get un-hypo if your cortisol is struggling too

hard. There is a wonderf FAQ page in our files section that you should

read it compiles MUCH info there to get you really introduced into the

world of adrenals, and there is alot to learn!

I posted my results from the Canary Club kit, w/saliva cortisol test,

at bottom of my intro. I started to read the FAQ but haven't gotten

through it and the rest of the Files yet.

Thanks,

Sorry I didn;t scroll past your signature! ANyway, your cortisol

definitely needs a boost. Have you tried isocort? I kind of doubt it

will be strong enough for you, men need even more cortisol than women

do, and with your labs, were you female, Isocort would probably do the

trick, but you also have the elevated estrogen which tells me that for

you, the cortisol levels are way low. they really should have different

ranges for men and women., But I would suggest talking to your doctor

about Hydrocortisone. Your thyroid needs some improvement as well, btu I

would get the cortisol better first.

Thanks Val. Since I'm already on thyroid meds, do you usually

recommend staying on them while adding HC, or quitting until the

adrenals look better? I guess that I would be worried to just stop

the thyroid meds but I don't know. Also, how long after starting HC

to the adrenals start responding - i.e., assuming that I get up to the

20mg/day of HC can I expect to see my temps normalize and other

symptoms clear up relatively quickly? I understand that I might have

to be on HC for a while, but I'm just wondering whether I can expect

relief sooner. With re: to Isocourt, I have Hashis so I'm assuming

that I should go another route to avoid the Echinecea?

TIA

I'm going back on Armour starting tomorrow - only 30mg 2X/day to start

so shouldn't be too much. I guess that I'll plan on tapering up to

90mg after a week or so and then maybe 120mg which was the plan of the

doc who gave it to me. I guess I'll need to find out where to get my

own Cortef too. I assume that I'll find that in the files or links

when I get a chance to read them. Is 60mg of Armour too little after

being on 25mg of T3 and 50mg of T4 for the past 10 days?

your labs are showing a high T3 in the blood it is wise to lower it a

bit while you ramp the HC up slowly to avoid a thyroid dump.

Otherwise, just monitor your temps carefully and if oyu start to see

them at 99 or higher, stoip thyroid till they come down to use up the

excess.
