Guest guest
Yikes, that is an old saline implant! Welcome to our group! How long have you been having these symptoms? It sounds like your body could be finally reacting to the burden of your implants, with your immune system reaching a point where it just can't handle the stress associated with it anymore. Have you had any other stressful events in your life recently? It's hard to say what the outcome of this will be if you remove the implants. Insurance companies may be more inclined to pay for removal if there is evidence of any Baker contractures...are your implants hard at all? I would think that with the age of your implants though, they would agree to their removal. The current policies state that implants should be removed after 7 years, so you are way overdue! However, those older implants had much thicker shells and the risk of rupture is probably less. I can only wonder what is growing inside of them though, after all this time. It would be interesting to find out. Where are you? We have excellent plastic surgeons who are very knowledgeable about proper explant in various areas of the country. Most women travel for explant unless they live where these surgeons are. You want to be sure to get a total capsulectomy, or an en bloc removal, where all of the scar tissue is removed along with the implants. We can help you...you can hopefully regain your health, but it does take effort, time and patience and a good explant. Ask questions, and we will help as best we can. Guest guest
Hi Boogietom, Yes, sounds absolutely like you are having implant problems. Where are you? We have a list of docs on our site that know how to remove implants properly. Most plastic surgeons do not. Since you had the implant for a medical reason, your insurance will have to pay. You just have to find the right doc to help you. Lynda At 06:09 PM 7/30/2007, you wrote: >Hi all, >I have a 33 year old saline implant. You'll be busy reading for a while notice the Files and Links section - then read the messages women have written as they have come to the group searching, as they decide to have their implants removed, then begin the road to recovery. I don't think there will be any doubt whether or not your implants are causing your health problems. ly, it's a wonder you made it this long! I got my implants in 1978 and started having symptoms within a few months. I had them removed after 16 years. . . Guest guest
Good morning, Boogie: Welcome to our group. We will help you, and please do ask questions. Has your implant deflated? You have had the implant in you body for too long; it must come out. There are many doctors listed in our archives who would do your explant. Honey, you are in one of the best groups, because these women are wonderful. I had silicone breast implants in 1974, and they have destroyed my life. This group, however, has saved my life, and has given me so much love and support. Stay close...love always.....Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`````````` 33year old implant Hi all,I have a 33 year old saline implant. Guest guest
My goodness, the insurance company is balking about removing 33 year old implants, when the lifespan of them is supposed to be 10 years? I think you can fight this so don't give up. Sis --- In , " boogietom6 " <bowwowmeow@...> wrote: > > Hi all, > I have a 33 year old saline implant. Guest guest
I agree, it must come out. One arguement is that they say implants dont cause problmes, so they are removing a painful mass in your chest, it just so happens there is also a safe implant in the mix that has to come out. Wish you well ~ Blessings ~ DedeGet a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com.
Guest guest
It's certainly worth fighting the insurance company. You might mention (Sicko) - He said to report insurance problems to him . . . But, bottom line is that you MUST get those implants our for your own sake, regardless of the cost. Your life is worth it! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
