Guest guest
Hi Sue! I'm sooooo sorry to hear about your " episode " . (That's what I started calling them). I get these attacks every so often, but have " mild " ones EVERY DAY. It's HORRIBLE. Mine started about 7 years after being implanted. After removal I have had one. This past one happened on my plane ride home from my honeymoon. Talk about embarrassing?! We had to page the attendant. She brought about 8 bottles of water (I get suddenly thirsty). People next to me were really scared b/c they didn't know what was wrong. They gave me blankets but I wasn't cold. I just couldn't STOP shaking (It almost looked like I was convulsing from a seizure, but was completely coherent). I went to the ER about 1 1/2 years ago (about 3 in the morning) b/c of the same thing. They didn't know what to do. They gave me muscle relaxers (which I did NOT take), and told me to see a specialist in the morning! UGH! I STILL don't know what causes this. Only thing I can think of is my adrenal problems...adrenaline? Who knows. I just know it's debilitating and tiring. My neck does not get stiff, but ALL of my joints tighten up. My heart will start beating fast, and I usually have the runs afterwards. SOOOOOO bizarre, I know. You're NOT alone! I don't know if this helps, but I hope that we can figure this out together! My health insurance JUST kicked back in, and I plan to get to the bottom of this ASAP!!! Sorry again! I'll be praying for you! - H. Guest guest
Hi Lynda, I looked up TIAs and I am pretty sure it’s not that. I have had theses episodes before as long as four years ago. I can see ok, talk fine and have no headache. Emotionally I felt fine, but I did have the phone crooked in my neck…talking to my daughter, it seems to be neck related with me. The panic starts because of the dizziness, its such a bummer. Love Sue From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Lynda Roth Sent: 22 July 2007 18:16 Subject: Re: panic attack? Guest guest
Hi Sue, I am not sure how much help this will be or not. I am so sorry you are no feeling well. Pre-explant I had issues with anxiety attacks all the time; however, I was never dizzy nor had a stiff neck. I had rapid heart beat, trouble breathing and trouble swallowing. For awhile I was on klonopin and then valium. Both medications relieved my symptoms immediately. These two drugs can become addicting though. I haven't take either drug in a month, but I keep them in case I have another anxiety attacks. I have never heard of the drug your friend is recommending. Forgive me, but I can't remember. Did you have your capsules removed? Breathing excersices, hot bathes and sleepy time tea also help. I hope you are feeling better now. Hugs, Lynn panic attack? Hi All, Just wanted to ask some advise. Guest guest
Yeah, Sue! I do feel like I'm going to die. Some are worse than others, and some accompany the convulsions, as others I don't convulse. It's so bizarre. I HATE that you're going through this. I know EXACTLY what it feels like... and it's VERY scary. They come on for NO reason... and I'm not even STRESSED when it happens. I stopped trying to figure it out. I really believe it's related to my adrenals. I WILL get to the bottom of this! - On 7/22/07, Sue Gibbens <susan.gibbens@...> wrote: Hi ……YES YES YES exactly. Guest guest
Sue, Any chance your friend is using a silicone breast prosthesis? . . . Or has had some other type of implant or injection? One of the support ladies I met years ago told me a friend of hers was having the same problems as she was . . . no implants. But, her breast prosthesis kept getting sticky stuff all over her! This kind of stuff isn't normal . . . it's better to get the bottom of it and fix it than to accept it as "normal" for you. Guest guest
Hi Rogene, Welcome back I have missed you. No my friend has huge boobs….she would like a reduction; she is 49 and has never had any kind of implant or injection. Her problems are all neck related that in turn are related to panic attacks that she has suffered for many many years, since a teenager really. I wish I could get to the bottom of it I really do, I live half a life. How were your travels I hope you are rested and had a fantastic time? Glad you are back Love Sue. Guest guest
Lynn, The problem with these big attacks is how do you know when you should really go get help or if its just another 'attack'??? Guest guest
I experience the shaky legs (shaky all over), shortness of breath, stiff joints, and rapid heartbeat (and heart beating HARD) all on a daily basis. Only when I convulse do I consider it an " episode " . Pretty sad, huh?! This is usually ALWAYS triggered by ANYTHING that elevates my heart rate (ex: walking up hills/stairs). I hate it b/c I feel like an 80 year old lady! I'm only 28 and I have to avoid EXERCISE! I'm not sure WHAT to say to the Dr.'s... they won't even know HOW to understand this. All I know is that I'm TIRED! I'm TIRED of living like this b/c this is NOT living... It's 24/7. Guest guest
Thanks Sue, Our trip was wonderful - but exhausting. We came home on a red-eye flight . . . We ended up being up for over 24 hours. That I could have done without. I've been virtually incapacitated for the past couple days. But I'm getting better! Today I feel like I'll live. I hope you can get to the bottom of what's going on with you. This is no way to live! Love, Rogene
Guest guest
Katy, I understand what you mean. There were times when I questioned if it was a panic attack or a heart attack. After having them so many times I came to realize I was having panic attacks. When I was having them regularly, I joined a Webmd board for people with anxiety. I rec'd so much support and advice. It helped me control them. This is a neat website that they recommeneded http://www.panicend.com/ - each time I would have an attack I would read this. It helped. However, I now know that I was really sick. I agree with , I think it has something to due with the adrenals - fight or flight response. I have learned many coping techniques but I agree with Rogene that there is something behind this that needs to be solved. I haven't had a full-blown attack since explant (knock on wood and thanks be to God). I did have some anxiety for a while, but it seems to be subsiding too. How are you feeling? I went to the ER about 1 1/2 years ago (about 3 in the morning) b/c of the same thing. They didn't know what to do. They gave me muscle relaxers (which I did NOT take), and told me to see a specialist in the morning! UGH! I STILL don't know what causes this. Only thing I can think of is my adrenal problems...adrenali ne? Guest guest
Sue, That is not the definition of a panic attack. You have to have a lot of the emotional symptoms, the impending doom, the overwhelming anxiety. And they can last for an hour or for 30 minutes. Yours definitely does not sound like a panic attack. Guest guest
, Have you had your thyroid tested? Especially thyroid antibodies? I have Hashimotos. Some of the symtoms I have are rapid heart beat, joint pains and muscle fatigue. Now that I am on synthroid and getting it under control, I have more strength. I can actually excercise a little bit. I too felt like an 80 y.o. and I am only 34. Prior to getting sick I was very active in sports, golfed almost every week and played of softball and volleyball leagues. I am feeling better each day. I know detoxing has helped but I really think my thyroid issues are the underlying cause of many of my issues. I think the Hashimotos was brought on by the implants though. Guest guest
Hi Lynn! I haven't had my thyroid tested lately, but I did MANY times in the past. Is that part of a " normal blood panel " test? Do they always test for Thyroid antibodies? Not sure what that is/does. Please let me know. I plan on going to the Dr. very soon... Thanks! - On 7/22/07, Lynn <spinkscl@...> wrote: , Have you had your thyroid tested? Especially thyroid antibodies? I have Hashimotos. Guest guest
, I copied and pasted the following from www.stopthethyroidmadness.com HOW DO I CONFIRM HASHI’S LABWISE? Hashi’s is confirmed by two antibodies labs: anti-TPO and TgAb. The first antibody, anti-TPO, attacks an enzyme normally found in your thyroid gland, called the Thyroid Peroxidase, which is important in the production of thyroid hormones. The second antibody, TgAb, attacks the key protein in the thyroid gland, the thyroglobulin, which is essential in the production of the T4 and T3 thyroid hormones. Note: it is unfortunately common for a doctor to only do ONE test, and you need BOTH tests, since you can be normal in one and high in another! We have also noted that saliva does not always accurately detect Hashi’s as well as blood tests do. Hashimotos–the autoimmune attack on your thyroid! WHAT IS HASHIMOTOS? Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is an autoimmune thyroid disease in which your thyroid is being attacked by your own immune system via antibodies, attempting to destroy your gland as if it’s some vile enemy. The attack causes an inflammation and gradual destruction of your thyroid gland. It may be the most common thyroid disease, especially with women.WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF HASHIMOTOS? For many, the symptoms are silent–the early stages of the autoimmune attack. But eventually, you start to notice the same symptoms of hypothyroid, including poor stamina, easy fatigue, feeling cold, gaining weight, dry hair and skin, constipation, etc. What are the symptoms of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis? Some patients with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis may have no symptoms. However, the common symptoms are fatigue, depression, sensitivity to cold, weight gain, forgetfulness, muscle weakness, puffy face, dry skin and hair, constipation, muscle cramps, and increased menstrual flow. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I had these tests as well as a TSH & Free T3 & T4. Hashimoto's is caused by autoimmune issues. My body is attacking my thyroid (again, I think caused by the implants). You should ask for a copy of your labs to share with the group. Patty also has Hashi's and can offer advice. I have read that synthroid can be taken during pregnancy. You'll also have to find a doctor who will treat you if you have Hashi's. My primary doctor wouldn't treat me because I didn't have hypothyroidism yet! So I went to an endrocrinologist who believed in treating the symptoms rather than the lab result number. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. I by no means am 100% but I do feel like I have more energy and my bones and muscles don't ache like they did. I have also copied and pasted some symtoms of hypothyroidism below. I don't have hypothyroidism on paper but I have many of these symptoms (many cleared up with synthroid)... Hope this helps... Lynn [edit] Early symptoms [7] Poor muscle tone (muscle hypotonia) Fatigue (physical) Cold intolerance, increased sensitivity to cold Constipation Weight gain Depression (especially in the elderly) Muscle cramps and joint pain Thin, Brittle fingernails Thin, brittle hair Paleness [edit] Late symptoms [7] Slowed speech and a hoarse, breaking voice. Deepening of the voice can also be noticed. Dry puffy skin, especially on the face Thinning of the outer third of the eyebrows Abnormal menstrual cycles (Specifically Menorrhagia) [edit] Less common symptoms Heat intolerance, increased sensitivity to heat Impaired memory Impaired cognitive function (brain fog) and inattentiveness Urticaria (hives) Migraine headache A slow heart rate with ECG changes including low voltage signals. Diminished cardiac output and decreased contractility. Reactive(or post-prandial) hypoglycemia[8] Pericardial effusions may occur. Sluggish reflexes hair loss Anemia caused by impaired hemoglobin synthesis (decreased EPO levels), impaired intestinal iron and folate absorption or B12 deficiency from pernicious anemia anxiety/panic attacks difficulty swallowing Shortness of breath with a shallow and slow respiratory pattern. Impaired ventilatory responses to hypercapnia and hypoxia. Increased need for sleep Osteopenia or Osteoporosis Irritability and mood instability Yellowing of the skin due to impaired conversion of beta-carotene to vitamin A Impaired renal function with decreased GFR. Thin, fragile or absent cuticles Elevated serum cholesterol Acute psychosis (myxedema madness) is a rare presentation of hypothyroidism Decreased libido Decreased sense of taste and smell (late, less common symptoms) Puffy face, hands and feet (late, less common symptoms) Re: panic attack?
