Guest guest
Dorothy, It's very funny, I just send yo a link for venofer but on the other group. I think it's the same web page but I did not get to the reviews.So,from what I understand you need to get a few IVs in a period of time with a low amount of iron to reduce the potential side effects.Did you ask for a few infusions? Thanks a lot Dorothy. Guest guest
Interesting. I had a high dose of venofer and didn't have any side affects. I was told at the hospital that most people do just fine. -- In RT3_T3 , " milenawilbur " wrote: > > Here it's the link. > http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/rxlist_view_comments.asp?drug=venofer & question\ id=fdb20109_pem > > Milena > > > > > > > > > > > Here you go Milena, some reviews by venofer recepients. > > > > > > > > http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/rxlist_view_comments.asp?drug=venofer & question\ id=fdb20109_pem > > > > > > > > Dorothy > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Did you get only one iron IV? How much iron they gave you and how long time the IV lasted?Do yo feel better now and how long time ago did you have the IV? Thanks a lot Milena > > > > > > > > > > Here you go Milena, some reviews by venofer recepients. > > > > > > > > > > http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/rxlist_view_comments.asp?drug=venofer & question\ id=fdb20109_pem > > > > > > > > > > Dorothy > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
> Did you get only one iron IV? Nothing yet. The insurance co. refused the pre approval because the dr's office had the wrong code. They are working on getting the right one. I am bugging them and sending them links to how to do it. I hope something happens soon. I am having less and less energy. Guest guest
Yes, only one. I had 300mg venofer which took about 2 hours. Honestly, it wasn't a big deal. I drove myself to the hospital. I sat in a recliner with my feet up, ate lunch, and watched tv. The nurses did come in to check on me every 15min. or so. I had the IV about 5 weeks ago. I was told to wait 3 weeks before re-testing ferritin. My levels went from 24 to 196. Yes, too high but doc. isn't concerned, it will come down. I can't say for sure if it helped how I feel, I am still hypot. and hope to get unhypo. before it drops. Good news though, w/o insurance and depending on the hospital, it will cost between $500-$800. I just got the bill and it was $380, they gave me an uninsured discount. -- In RT3_T3 , " milenawilbur " wrote: > > Did you get only one iron IV? Guest guest
300mg. I asked and the nurse and she said that was a pretty good amount. It took 2 hours to drain....drip drip drip -- In RT3_T3 , " dorothyroeder " wrote: > > > > Interesting. I had a high dose of venofer and didn't have any side affects. Guest guest
- I didn't expect to have any problems. Venofer is pretty routine according to the nurses at the hospital. They do it all day long. -- In RT3_T3 , " dorothyroeder " wrote: > > > > I just read all of the reviews and they scare me much.I think you are a brave girl.I have had so many scary episodes recently, which I think hold on me and I'm not ready for more at this moment,LOL. > > I am remembering the ones where they feel good right away. Guest guest
Things are eventually all going to fall apart, everything is so corrupt, makes me sick. My doctor who actually tries to help his patients, has been reprimanded twice. He has been told that he spends to much time with his patients. IHC dropped him because he was actually helping people with chronic illness and helping with hormones. We shouldn't be surprised that most doctors won't help, it's just business. I get farther without insurance. The venofer wasn't that expensive. The 2 hours hospital was. > > > Good news though, w/o insurance and depending on the hospital, it will cost between $500-$800. Guest guest
Dorothy, You are right about that , " we are what we think " .I will see my doctor on August/7 and see what can I do to convince him for a referral for a iron IV.I have to try to get in touch with the local hospital.I have been 2 years stuck at home and I'm tired of being toyed too.I think it's important for myself to decide and talking with you guys helps me a lot.I just hope I will have the energy to fight for that at this moment. Thank you Milena > > > > I just read all of the reviews and they scare me much.I think you are a brave girl.I have had so many scary episodes recently, which I think hold on me and I'm not ready for more at this moment,LOL. > > I am remembering the ones where they feel good right away. Guest guest
- My doctor took 2 weeks just to respond to my request for an IV. Every time I called his nurse she said that he was working on it. He hadn't ever called in an iron IV before so he was studying it I think. When you go to talk to your doctor tell him exactly want you want, like 300mg venofer, so he doesn't have to feel stupid not knowing what to do or have to look it up. He needs to call it in at the hospital and then you make an appt. with the hospital to set up a time. I really wouldn't worry about the IV, I'd do it again if I had to. -- In RT3_T3 , " milenawilbur " wrote: > > Dorothy, > > You are right about that , " we are what we think " .I will see my doctor on August/7 and see what can I do to convince him for a referral for a iron IV.I have to try to get in touch with the local hospital.I have been 2 years stuck at home and I'm tired of being toyed too.I think it's important for myself to decide and talking with you guys helps me a lot.I just hope I will have the energy to fight for that at this moment. > Thank you > Milena > > > > > > > > > I just read all of the reviews and they scare me much.I think you are a brave girl.I have had so many scary episodes recently, which I think hold on me and I'm not ready for more at this moment,LOL. > > > > I am remembering the ones where they feel good right away. Guest guest
Thanks, I was looking into some info for the hospital and wonder when I call what department should I ask for?I guess, I will call on the main number and explain to them what I'm looking for, hopefully they will be able to point me to the right one.I did not ask you, but what was your ferritin level before you got the IV? It is important to know how much iron in the IV you will get and how do they decide the exact amount? I assume it would depends on the ferritin levels one has. Thanks again Milena > > > > > > > > > > I just read all of the reviews and they scare me much.I think you are a brave girl.I have had so many scary episodes recently, which I think hold on me and I'm not ready for more at this moment,LOL. > > > > > > I am remembering the ones where they feel good right away. Guest guest
Hi Milena,When you call the hospital, ask for IV therapies or infusion therapies, they will know what you're talking about. Before the Iv, my level was 24 and went to 196. I was told to wait 3 weeks or so before retesting levels. Good luck.Subject: Re: venofer/iron IV reviewsTo: RT3_T3 Date: Friday, July 24, 2009, 4:39 PM Thanks, I was looking into some info for the hospital and wonder when I call what department should I ask for?I guess, I will call on the main number and explain to them what I'm looking for, hopefully they will be able to point me to the right one.I did not ask you, but what was your ferritin level before you got the IV? Guest guest
> When you call the hospital, ask for IV therapies or infusion therapies, they will know what you're talking about. I was referred to out-patient surgery. Dorothy

Guest guest
You called the hospital and they sent you to out patient surgery? That doesn't sound right. Call the hospital again and say " my doctor is going to call in a order for an iron IV therapy and who do I talk to about that to set up an appt? " . Maybe try another hospital if they do not have IV therapies. > > > > When you call the hospital, ask for IV therapies or infusion therapies, they will know what you're talking about. > > I was referred to out-patient surgery. > > Dorothy >
Guest guest
Dorothy, I will get the magnesium. The problem is my doctor lives an hour away and since I'm not feeling good enough to drive I have to wait for my husband to drive me,so will see when that will be. Dorothy, I called the hospital and they pointed me to a Surgical Daycare and I will try to get in touch with them on Monday. It sounds similar to the department they send you to.
