Guest guest
Hi, Good news Kari, has done very well. On Monday she tested (per the cardiologist) " profoundly positive " for NMH. Within a few minutes of starting the Tilt Table test her pressure dropped from 130/80 to 70/40. She thought she had failed it because, she only felt sleepy in fact she was dizzy, tried to faint, got flushed hands and face and pulse raced. They quickly ended it gave her orange juice. Although this was not a pleasant test in which one either tests positve or not. This sure explained the many flushing episodes she has suffered from, they call this adrenaline rush " flight or fight " response, hers was definitely abnormal and proved her brain stem involvement During the tilt table test, the cardiologist that performed the test said it is often times better/safer to do the surgeries in several steps since there is less swelling going on during while working on the tonsils. For Kari this was certainly true. TUESDAY Tonsil Removal Surgery: 4 + hrs started late... Rosner removed the tonsils that were (WRAPPING AND KINKING THE BRAIN STEM also said they were very spongy he also removed a nueroma from the 13th nerve a major pain center this was a surprise for us but one that he is seeign more and more) - she DID NOT need the titanium mesh, ...very crowded in there, but no slumping present and the duragraph looked great. She fully expected to have nausea but she did not, according to Rosner she is his " first " of his " tonsillectomies " to not have nausea. She also didn't have a drain nor was there much swelling. She'll be released Friday or Saturday. I wanted to thank you all for the encouragement and support .Kari said she just knew she was going to do well and it was so wonderful to know all the positive thoughts and prayers and {{{{ANGELS}}}}}were being sent her way. **AT PRE-OPS ;0) - DOC Rosner who is mostly bald... noticed that Kari cut off her long hair but told her hair was not his LOL... " major concern " but assuring her he wouldn't take more than necessary during the pre-op prep. … ..so Kari had me put her hair in bouncy pigtails. As he walked in to do the suregery she wiggled and bounced her hair at him.. and Rosner said hey, cute pigrtails, as she drifted off to sleep she told him they were done " just for him! " HUGS from Dori.....and oh so happy to have this OVER! MOM of Kari
